Dragging up an old thread here, because I have a similar (but opposite) issue - I was born in the US (Iowa), and currently (since age 13) live in Canada, and I am a dual citizen (born American, naturalized Canadian). I have all my documents up to date. My question is, when it comes time for doing the legal name change, do I need to do it in the US first, and then Canada, or does it not matter? I'm thinking if I get it in Canada but not the US (for a time), it may make travel to the US difficult. Am I worrying for nothing? I haven't lived in the US since age 13 (I'm 54 now), and the last place I lived (the place I vote from) is PA. Anyone have any advice?
