A few days ago, Sweetie was watching a TV program about forensic science. One part of the show was about identifying a body when only a skeleton remained. She kidded me that if I were murdered and years later the cold squad found only my skeleton, they would identify the victim as male.
She's right, of course. If pathologists had only my bone structure to go on, they would call me a John Doe—until the dental records came in. The skull, the clavicle, the ribcage would probably all indicate or at least suggest male. Especially telling would be the pelvis. I know all too well that my pelvis is not shaped like that of most women. When I dilate, I can feel the pelvic arch, the bone that's just north of my vagina. It's closer than it would be in most women born female-bodied. Wikipedia has a good comparative illustration of typical female and typical male pelvises (maybe Elvis's!) from Gray's Anatomy.
