I'm seeing a therapist within a month or two (Jeremy Tomlinson in Toronto), and I'd like to know if therapists will give referrals for anti-androgens before they make a formal diagnosis. I'm noticing my hair is starting to recede a bit, and my facial hair is coming in thicker. I might be able to make a case saying it will save me money on electrolysis, because my facial hair is still pretty thin and no where near done growing in.

I was in a similar boat and was scared to death about stuff like that, a lot therapists will approve spiro for you, but its at their discretion because after 6 months of that stuff you could be sterile.  Anyway dont worry so much about it, their are ways to get it back if you lose to much (rogaine, hairplugs, scalp lowering, etc..), expect to pay a lot for laser/electrolysis, trust me, you will pay A LOT, and your hair wont change much in the typical amount of time it takes to diagnose you.  You can also wear a wig until you get your hair the way you like.  Let me show you an example of how i looked 2 years before transition and after 1.5 years of HRT.

Wow, you look great!  ;D I'm looking forward to estrogen but I'm not going to transition where I work right now, so I can wait for it. The hair loss though, not so much. I only have stray strands here and there on my cheeks and neck (but a full goatee), which for me is why it's a big deal to stop facial hair growth while I can.

My doctor offered me AA's on the first meeting as soon as I had a blood test done.

Got the prescription a week or so later.

Depends on the place, but the place I'm going doesn't require a formal diagnosis of GID for any treatment (including hormone letters etc). I'm going, as far as diagnostic coding is concerned, for treatment for my depression. Which of course is true.
