PEABODY — A local transgender social club is moving forward with a discrimination complaint against Capone's Italian American restaurant after an attempt to mediate a dispute between the group and restaurant failed.

The city's Licensing Board last night voted to hold a hearing July 26 to consider whether to take action against Capone's, which is alleged to have wrongfully denied entrance to eight members of Sisters Family.

The group's founder, Ashley Bottoms of Saugus, last night told the board that the mediation "wasn't good" and that details of what were supposed to be confidential negotiations were leaked to a "hate group."
