Transgender woman 1st target of ID hoax bomb law

PAYETTE, Idaho (AP) - A transgender woman who police say planted what appeared to be pipe bombs at her southwestern Idaho home is the first person to be charged under a new law targeting hoax explosive devices.

Catherine Carlson was arrested Sunday in Payette.

Clark says Carlson indicated she planted the devices, burned her belongings and shed clothing to draw attention to her plight.

She's been at odds with authorities since 2007 over a traffic citation that listed her legal name, Catherine Carlson, as well as her previous name, Daniel Carlson.

I sincerely hope this very sick woman gets the help she clearly needs.

This isn't a criminal. This is a very sick lady indeed.
