William Kuzon, Jr. MD

has anyone heard of Dr Kuzon, he's based at the University of Michigan's gender clinic, USA? And I'm wondering if he's any good.

I personally don't know anything about him but figured I'd do a little research since I'm looking for a  surgeon and Michigan isn't too far from me. I found a site and through the quick reading I did, he seems pretty good. He's got an overall rating of 4 stars and he specializes in Abdominal Wall Reconstruction; Breast Surgery (Mammaplasty); Facial Paralysis Reconstruction; Gender Reassignment Surgery; Reconstructive Surgical Procedures; Ventral Hernia... so I think it'd at least be worth giving a call and possibly getting a consutation.. which, I think I may do. =]

I'm not to the point of any type of surgery yet, but i'm just getting a feel for what is out there. I live about 3-4 hours from U of M in Ann Arbor.

I have yet to actually speak with Dr. Kuzon, but I have spoken with the head of the gender specialty department. She is ridiculously nice and extremely professional. We played phone tag for about 3 weeks and I had to be a little more persistant than I'd have liked, but after I left a message the second time, she called me back and apologized profusely for not getting back to me sooner. I'll be recieving an info packet probably sometime in the next few days, which she supposedly took to the post office herself to deliver. I've seen one result photo from a (keyhole I think) surgery he did a couple years ago and the results look phenominal. I'll post more as I get more info.

thanks for letting me know what you've got so far. honestly i had forgotten about this topic, even after i was the one to put it up. i still haven't gotten the courage to see a gender specialist yet; but i seriously need to. so i am a bit far from surgery. have you checked transbucket for pictures?

It's no problem at all. I know I've had times when I wish more info was available to me, so I try to help where I can =]
When I started considering calling around to find a therapist/ gender specialist to talk to, the hardest part was making the first call. After that, I found more courage to keep looking into places. Good luck with everything.

Just another info update. I finally got the packet of information from the Gender Department of Michigan University! =D

In the packet, I got a letter from the Director of th gender program that says what a person needs before schedualing a consultation with Kuzon. The two things needed are a letter of support from a therapist stating that the individual is aware of the emotional and physical impact of the surgery and desire to move forward, and the second thing is medical records from the past 2 years.
They also sent Release of Information forms.. which will be convenient =]
The last thing they sent is a pamphlet on preparing for top- surgery.

I suppose another important part is the cost.. from what I've gathered, the surgery will cost around $4,800 (which includes follow-up fees), plus a separate consultation fee.

Also, it says that you will need to take two trips to Ann Arbor, one for the consultation and one for the surgery. If you don't live in Ann Arbor, it says to plan to stay in the city for at lesat 24-48 hours. The money for surgery is to be paid in full 2 weeks prior to surgery.

It's alot of info, but at least we've got the facts now =]
