The girl was sent to the principal's office. It wasn't the first time she had been there. She keeps talking back to the teachers, even though she should know better by now. She knows her mom will be very mad, and maybe punch another hole in the wall.
"Principal Sharniny, Jill Firesmart's Mother is here." Said Ms. Susan the principal's secretary over the intercom. Within moments Jill's mother entered, red in the face.
Jill recognized the signs of trouble and wished the earth would open up and swallow her. It didn't happen; life stood right in front of her, gazing into her dispirited eyes, and sighed disappointingly.
Principal Sharniny opened up Jill's file, and flipped through her multiple discipline referrals. It was a thick file. This wasn't Jill's first trip to this office.
Principal Sharniny set the referrals on the desk, and looks at Jill with a stern expression.
"Jill," she said, "why can't you learn to behave like the other kids."

"Don't you mean, like the other girls?" Jill remarked.
