I have always had very plain tastes in clothing, even for a male. I like muted, calming colors, and I absolutely can't stand really loud patterns (houndstooth must die). I am a khaki-green kind of person. I'd go for military surplus in a heartbeat. However, I also consider myself to be very feminine. I don't consider myself to be the least bit MASCULINE because of this. It's just...me. That's the kind of style that makes me feel sexy. Is anyone else like this?

Sigma, not sure I'd call it "sexy", just "me" for the most part. I like short khaki-green tie string shorts, calve length Capri pants with strings, big pockets and all kinds of androgynous feminine looking tops and shirts. I'm tall and slender with very long straight hair I can reach & pull from behind my back so like to keep ^up^ and i call it the "Kim Possible" look  ;) Not much of a "Girl Warrior" in the kick yer a$$ dept but have become pretty adept at "to the rescue" in writing court depositions and crying on the shoulder of anybody in a official capacity who will listen across two different states . . .

. . . Wife & i are battling over our kids these days and feel i am definitely the better, more convincing "parent" lol Never thought I'd get used to somebody outright accusing me "are you having a sex change"(?) as i reply "hell no", I'm merely 'transgender" ??? In Atlanta it's 95 and humid as 'ell every day so *everybody* tends to dress barely ;D

"Sounds like wife and you (I) are trying to play the "same role" with your children" :o

"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

I beleive each individual looks best in certain colors. Styles change. What is fashionable today may not be tommorrow. Dress anyway you like and maybe you'll start a new trend.

I've always dressed rather "plain Jane" most of the time. But still folks have referred to me as a "Tom boy". Heck, I was a boy, or at least thought I was doing my best to be one. I was wearing my old BDU pants to garden in because they tie at the bottom to keep the pesky aggressive Hobo spiders from crawling up and biting me. So a guy walks by and says "Nice garden ma'am" and smiles giving me a wink. I don't know why so many folks see me as a girl some times. But that's how it's been all my life. Even when I was being quite the guy doing rather dangerous guy stuff. Go figure  ???

Yes Doll, you're not alone, though I may tend to be more toward the "Tomboy"
end of the spectrum. I like denim and suede or black leather. Even my taste
in dresses are of the simple and "classic" looks. My everyday attire is
normally, jeans and a simple pretty top, of a solid color that may
or may not have a ruffle or flounce of some sort.

I once observed a young lady who was part of a "Smoke Jumper Team", she
was dressed in the same uniform that the males of the team had on and the
only feminine accessory that she wore was the "Scrunchi" that she used to
hold the braid in her hair. She carried herself with all the self confidence that
you would expect from someone in her profession. She was absolutely
beautiful and it had nothing to do with how she was dressed.

"I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you,
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So let's make the most of this beautiful day,
Since we're together, we might as well say,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?" - Fred Rogers

Thank you, Heatherrose. I, on the other hand, like the way that I look in a pair of raggedly cut-off daisy-dukes, a khaki-green army belt, and a white top. The style is very simple, but I like the effect of it. It makes me feel very sexy, particularly after I have carefully applied some sunless tanning (this girl is NOT stupid enough to damage her skin in harsh sunlight. Thank goodness for SPF 80 sunscreen). Khaki slacks and a brown shirt is good, too. If I wore a skirt, it would probably be navy-blue, and I would choose a white blouse. I have tried more elaborate clothing, and I feel like an imposter in it. I don't like patterns, particularly houndstooth or paisley. Bright or excessively floral colors are offensive to me.

Stay away from Miami, Hawaii and LA then, they would have to call a whambulance for you within five minutes on the street.

Last time I visited Miami-Dade, I nearly suffered from a tonic-clonic seizure. I spent the entire visit with my eyes glazed-over, and I was very happy to leave.

Simple solid colored clothing can be very elegant, even for "dressing up" and going out. Sometimes in that case just the right jewelry combination can really accentuate an otherwise plain outfit. I'd much rather blend into the crowd than stand out screaming "I don't know how to dress myself!" lol

I live in jeans and tees, mostly for work.  But I love dresses and skirts.  Multicolored and pretty patterns. Earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces.

I am on the side of being very Femme, when I can.  But I still can be a tomboy.  Fix the car. wire the house, repair the roof.
