Love is in the air as Corrie couple Roy and Hayley Cropper tie the knot at Tatton Park.

The big wedding, due to be broadcast as part of the show's 50th anniversary celebrations, is currently being filmed at the Cheshire park's Old Hall.

Cafe owner Roy (David Neilson) popped the question to transsexual Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) after her ordeal in 'Siege Week', during which she was held hostage by escaped prisoner Tony Gordon.

THINGS finally turn out all white for Corrie lovebirds Hayley and Roy Cropper as they tie the knot.
The hapless pair - who had their relationship blessed a few years ago because transsexual Hayley wasn't legally allowed to marry - look delighted being covered in confetti.

But viewers realise later this summer that things aren't completely plain sailing for the duo, played by Julie Hesmondhalgh and David Neilson.

Soap weddings never ever go according to plan.

And Hayley Cropper's Coronation Street nuptials to Roy Cropper look as though they too suffered some hiccups.

Although why her bridesmaid is splattered with what appears to be oil will only be revealed on the big day.

I don't watch a lot of TV and never watch soaps.

I have to say, I'm pleasently surprised that such a high profile character has been accepted onto one of the most popular soaps in the UK.

The people at Corrie invested a lot of time and effort into making Hayley a great character, with her beau, Roy.

Last Christmas's special DVD, and the expensive five-day location shoot also indicates the popularity and permanence of Roy and Hayley.

This will be screened over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.
