So 2 years ago i started working out 5 days a week, then toned it down to 3-4, used corsets at night and tightlaced, laser/electrolysis, 6 months later went on hormones, never missed a shot or a pill (if i couldnt get the shot, had pills as backup), waxing, hair, makeup, cloths, and diet.  Never been through so much struggle in all my life, but now i am nearing the end, and everyday the disforia gets less and less, i am sure after my surgery next july i will finally be rid of it.

I have to ask, Izumi, how old were you when you began HRT?

You are stunning.

I may not like that my ribs are bigger than I want them to be (I hate my shoulders even more), but trying to get them smaller by forcing them that way with corset or other such device does not sound healthy at all, organs need room to breath, to function properly. There's a lot of big women in this world, can't all have slim perfect torsos. Something like this just seems to be taking things a bit too far on transitioning.

Frankly, I'm sick and tired of all these naysayers. Tightlacing, when done properly, is a healthy lifestyle and provides numerous benefits. It can alleviate and prevent all sorts of back problems, leads to good posture, and makes you taller and more confident.
For this, you need a corset that is custom fitted, which will cost a tad over $400 and if worn daily, should last a good 5 or 6 years. But you'll probably want a new one after a year anyway if you have any dedication to it as your body will adjust to it and you may like to be even smaller, at which point you'll have one to wear at night and the other to wear during the day. They should be dry cleaned unless you have a fancy washer like mine, and most dry cleaners won't touch a corset, you have to call around to the better shops.
It's an expensive undertaking.
And it requires willpower, something of which I don't have.
I've bought 4 corsets from c&s constructions through Tom Lierse, they're american affiliate and have always been well pleased.
Lacing it difficult to withstand in the summer if you live in the south as I do.
Might I start up again, yeah. I've only gone a full week at work though. Do I just lace for parties these days? Yep.

My stats: underbust 32", the corset doesn't reduce that a bit since I prefer hourglass styles to wasp waists.
Waist: probably a 29" these days, up from a 27, because I'm trying to gain weight so my titties have some fat to grow with. I used to lace down to 23.5" on a regular basis, having once been at 19" very briefly at a ren faire to show that it can be done. Nearly passed out before it could be taken off though.
Like most things in life, if it's not taken to any extremes, it's perfectly fine.

Just like everything, we each have our own ways of going about things, just sharing what I think on the matter, that's what this place is for. Afterall, aren't hormones just as dangerous (more susceptible to breast cancer, blood clots, all kinds of other stuff) and I can't wait to get back on those, same think with surgery, risk of going under as well as having complications later, and I'm all for doing that later too. By all means, live as you feel comfortable, don't let my opinions make you feel that you have to defend your choices, I'm not out to crucify anyone just because of a simple thing as wearing a corset.

Indeedy :-)
That was one of my points. Anything can be dangerous if taken too far.

If anyone here has specific questions as to the ins and outs of lacing, I have plenty of tips I can tell you.
Just ask.

Here are some to get you started:
Make sure you're vehicle has good visibility as your range of motion is restricted.
Straight-backed chairs are more comfortable to sit in.
Keep a golf tee handy to get inbetween the knot when it gets tangled.
It will be more comfortable during the day if you wear it the night prior.
But for the first two weeks of sleeping in it, don't expect to get more than two hours of sleep per night.
Do sleep in it, it's the quickest way for your body to get adjusted to it.
Wrapping the lacings around a faucet is an effective way to lean into the pull and make it tighter (lean away from the sink). I've found that the loops come off door knobs too easily.
And a biggie: be sure to hold the ends of the laces when you go potty!!

No on is more surprised then me, i didnt think i would turn out anywhere near where i am now, i just promised myself i would do anything and everything i could to be the woman i wanted to become, that way at least if i failed it wouldnt have been for lack of trying, and i could always do surgery after to fix some things.

I like your attitude.

Well, everyone's rib cage is their own to do what they feel is best for them, but, good grief! Woman used to bind themselves up so as to put a a heavy bondage photo shoot to shame. We stopped doing that to the point that hardly any woman even wears a heavy girdle nowdays except for errotic reasons. It seems a step or two backwards, but every woman to herself. Carry smelling salts just in case!

Are there any corsets you would recommend over another?

Don't get anything from:
Brute force leather in pennsylvania

Do order one from either:
Wasp creations
Or
C & S constructions

Don't get anything off the rack at shops such as victoria secret or wetseal unless you plan to wear it just for fun. They offer no longterm benefits.

Izumi  this is nothing short of amazing and inspiring..

On an unrelated note, you look great for being 2 years in and starting at age 32.. I'm 31 and I've got some concerns that I might already be too late to start. Could I chat with you sometime?
NOT out
NOT on hormones

32? Thanks for giving me hope!

Company recommendations? if you mean for the corset, i just went to fredricks of hollywood and got one with metal ribbing and laces, its not the best corset but i dont want to tighten up like crazy... i see some pictures and ewww.. i just wanted to help shape the HRT thats all, so for me only 4 inches or so at a time, slowly i got from a 36 to a 29 and still getting smaller, and my hips are widening a bit with HRT.

I have a corset already, steel ribbed and laces too, I'll try again with that then,  someone said we need a '$400 corset'.  I'm not on HRT and it was leaving vertical stretches marks on me from the metal ribs, I must have been tightening it too much.

Just get a nice shape that's all I want and need.

Lexia,

C&S Constructions as I mentioned before is based in england. They're one of the premier corsettiers in the world and at $400 for all the bells and whistles and reasonably quickly turn aound time, I think it's well worth every penny (otherwise I wouldn't have purchased 4 in my past corsetting life!)
Constance and stuart, if you were wondering was c and s stood for.

Thanks for the commendation in the prior message on another topic :-)

My most rigid to date is an underbust hourglass with double busk, extra close boning, 2" stem, and with black lace overlay on royal blue satin. And a black lace string of course, it's over 14' long!
