Social Security and Selective Service. Help???

What exactly does changing the gender on your social security do?  Does it make you legally make you the new gender?

The reason why I'm asking this is because my state does not change gender regardless of surgeries.  I went to the Social Security office with my name change form and apparently the guy decided to change the gender on my SS without asking me.  Now my health insurance has me listed as male (I don't even know if this is related to my SS number or if it's their own error.  It needs to remain female because I'm having problems with my ovaries)  and I've received a selective service letter and idk what to do.  Should I notify the SS office of their error or keep it as male?  What are the benefits or problems it could cause?  I know either way I need to contact my health insurance  and selective service.  What am I suppose to send them to prove I'm not qualified to serve?

Were the unlikely situation to arise where a draft is instated, trans men would be disqualified at that point.

That 'unlikely' situation has occurred five times in our nation's history four of them in the last 100 years.  Don't be so sure that when things get that bad, that such niceties as being trans are going to keep you out.
