Hi guys, I've read some articles about arousal pattern among genetic women
(for example http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/25/magazine/25desire-t.html?pagewanted=1&_r=2)
and according to studies, women get similarly genitally aroused by anything, while men's arousal pattern reflects their orientation. I know plenty self-declared lesbians who like to watch gay male porn and use those studies as an explanation. But the thing is, genital arousal seems to be something different than subject arousal and I know also plenty lesbians who say they find gay porn boring.

So I wonder if this is just vaginal lubrication which doesn't have anything to do with "real" arousal (and that would explain why MTF transsexuals have male-typical patterns, because although Bailey's transphobic false assumptions, neo-vagina and so on are only transformed male genitalia, it doesn't lubricate), or maybe cisgender women are unaware of their arousal, because of low sexual drive, but if they were more "horny", their subject arousal would match with their genital arousal.
I know the difference in sex drive between being on testosterone and being on estrogen (I'm MTF) and I don't think anyone could be unaware of their arousal being on T, so may I ask you people, if something changed in that subject after you started HRT? Did you started enjoying and being aroused by gay porn while you're straight or by lesbian porn while you're gay?

I find it hard to believe lesbians will watch gay porn except to s->-bleeped-<- at the dirty f******.
And I'm also dubious about MtF having male-typical arousal patterns though I can quite imagine that TGs will have.
I've nebver watched porn so I can't relate to being aroused by porn.
I do feel nice and happy when I see a handsome male lead wooing a female lead...

VERY NSFW

Yes. I'm 12 weeks on T and while I used to get hard and turned on easily it takes more now. It takes physical contact or gay porn, where before it could be just by looking at someone. But I can also make myself hard if I think about certain things. I'm coming to terms with myself as a gay man too so women no longer turn me on. It was weird to get used to everything all at once but I actually like the way it goes. I don't get all...um...not dry down there when I'm turned on either unless I jack off and cum.

There are lots of articles about this:

"Male arousal pattern" means here that if they're straight, they won't be aroused (genitally) by lesbian porn, and if they're gay, by gay male porn.

I'm not sure why. Any hint?

So you're saying women turned you on before?

I have always identified as pansexual  and been attracted to either. Now I'm much more attracted to men and not women at all.

So I presume you don't find lesbian porn arousing at all now? May I ask you then, if you found it arousing before, when you identified as pansexual?

Not turned on by gay porn, never was. Not generally attracted to men, but it can happen.

Nope. The only porn I was ever turned on by was gay male porn. I never was comfortable with admitting to myself that I was gay cause I always felt like I had to compensate for my body's lack of masculinity so there was no possible way for me to pull it off. Plus T changes the brain slightly.

Porn almost does not turn me on at all, unless it's very well written, and pictures or movies hardly turn me on. Yes, I don't watch porn, I read it. Moreover, much of the porn turns me more off than on. Second worst porn I ever saw: lesbian porn with women with long painted nails fingering pussies... come on. This just does not work and it just hurts watching it. Worst porn I ever saw: a woman in some silly and ugly neon colored girl underwear stuff (whatever you call it, don't know the names in English) standing on high heels on two expensive cars, one heel on each, and getting licked by an ugly guy with a moustache standing underneath between the cars. Poor guy's neck. It was so hurtful just to watch. Plus I just thought all the time - ->-bleeped-<-, she will ruin the paint with her heels. I just couldn't relax watching this sh*t.

Maybe it was just the wrong decade for me to get in touch with porn. 80ies porn flicks are such an eyesore. And that was my first boyfriend showing me the best stuff he had in his collection. Well... no. Not really. I prefer letters, words and sentences. Sometimes they do not turn me on immediately, but they are not an eyesore as it's just letters. And I can carry them in my mind forever and mold the phantasies into whatever I want, which pays off much better over time  >:-).

Plus there are many things I just don't like, and I am into err... more special things. Plus I just don't really enjoy it when it's not made artistically enough, that means I want porn with art. Sometimes even 17th century paintings get me more off than porn but I'm into chubbies anyway... Well whatever, well done written porn works best for me, as I don't have to deal with eyesores and can read over things I don't like and ignore them or mold them into what I like. Plus it looks very unspectacular if neighbours or friends come by as I read this stuff in English and people are not that fluent in English here. ;D Oh yes and I am a bi, so anything goes regarding sex/gender here when it comes to porn. Really. But these weird first insights into "great porn" flicks by my first boyfriend really made me shun away from porn movies. And if you ever want to find out if I am more into guys or girls, make a good choice with your porn samples so they're comparable. No neon underwear please. That's the problem anyway with these tests. This is why I always doubt them - are the samples really comparable?

Porn doesn't turn me on at all...at least nothing that I've seen. My porn preferences are very specific, can't find anything! D:

Damn but I have always loved porn.  I don't know if I love it more that I'm on T.  I look at it more but that's just because my sex drive has increased.

My favourite is just pictures of young men with or without partners.  In a favourite picture I do use my imagination to make up my own story.  I have read erotic fiction before and some of it's good but for the most part I prefer my own stories and conclusions then someone else's.

I do write my own erotic stories in role playing groups and just for fun.  I know what I like so I write it down

I have, um, stereotypical gay male porn preferences. Visual depictions of men (usually two or more), preferably video, with audio, and a lot of it. And no, I'm not on T.

Lesbian porn is a major turnoff. It makes me cringe - when watching porn I tend to imagine myself as one of the participants, and the thought of being involved in lesbian sex is tremendously squicky and unappealing. Straight porn is marginally better but kind of boring (hetero sex from either perspective is just kind of blah for me).

I'm fairly sure my arousal patterns match my subjective experience, as I've in the past tried to use porn as foreplay with my partners, and the stuff with women in it (required for their sake) just doesn't work. Having my own quick private showing before heading to bed though...that works great.

Same sex porn has always been a turn off. I can deal with it but why?

My turn-ons haven't changed at all, except perhaps by becoming a little more definite.  I can get turned on by images of either gay or straight sex, but lesbian sex is a complete turn-off, as is straight sex featuring an overtly feminized woman by herself or with a man. Interestingly, I can get turned on by images of a woman pleasing herself, but only if it's an extreme close-up.  I think that has to do with being able to identify with the body part (which I have) but not with the woman (which I'm not.)  But then, my tastes in erotic material are also very specific.  I'm rather picky about my porn.  ;D

Of course, according to the study you linked to, the women were either unaware of, or unwilling to admit their arousal when watching porn the opposite of their orientation, so if we, as FtMs, are wired like women, we may be giving you an inaccurate depiction of our ability to be aroused by such stimuli.  ;)

Have only ever been into gay porn and to a lesser extent, straight porn.  Either way, it's got to have dick.  Lesbian porn bores me to sleep.  I'm still completely unsure of what I'm into, except that I find a lot of guys attractive, although I wouldn't admit it back when I was a "lesbian", because I didn't want to feel like a girl with a guy.  I think I'm into girls, but also not really y'know?  I like breasts, a lot, but I find "down there" kinda gross.  I tend to avert my eyes when it's shown in porn.  I just like to watch them doing it.

It's weird coming to terms with all this now, cos I spent AGES living as a lesbian and I actually wasn't that into it.
