First, I want to welcome all the readers from susan.org and other sites who peeked in at the post on the "transgender" question. And I want to thank readers who commented on the subject.

Clearly, labels are a sensitive issue with  . . . umm . . . I'm not sure how to describe us as a group anymore (other than spirits in the material world). I know that the word "transgender" is an umbrella term covering many types of people who blur gender lines, including "transsexuals." And I confess there was a time when I happily referred to myself as a "transgender" person. I felt safe under that umbrella. I wasn't alone anymore. Then I narrowed it down to a "transsexual" person because I understood that I was in an intermediate stage while I transitioned to womanhood. But here I am, a woman still writing about "trans" issues.
