And then there is usage . . .

I've given up on trying to get people, including news organizations, to realize that the word "transgender" is an adjective and does not need an "ed", as in "transgendered." Or that people should not be referred to as "transgenders," ie. making the word a noun.

I'm not even sure that I am correct about the "transgendered" point anymore, because some dictionaries list it as a legitimate adjective. And many trans people I know use the term "transgendered," too.
