Reykjavik's mayor opens Pride in drag
Jon Gnarr, a comedian, kicked off festivities last night dressed in a blonde wig, floral dress and red lipstick.

He told the crowds: "I am here in the absence of Mayor Gnarr as he is too busy to attend. I wonder if he is still in Moomin Valley [Gnarr recently visited Finland, where the children's fiction The Moomins is set].

"This is what happens when the people elect a clown as a major."

Jon Gnarr the Mayor of Reykjavik leads the Gay Pride parade and is wearing the same custom as he had on at the opening of Gay Pride last Wednesday. Mr. Gnarr who is a known comedian and an actor in Iceland has been at his best during the parade.

The mayor of Reykjavik has dressed up in drag to mark the opening of the Icelandic capital's gay pride festival.

Jon Gnarr, a top comedian who became mayor in June, appeared on stage on Thursday night in a floral-print dress, blonde wig and bright red lipstick.

"The mayor unfortunately could not attend himself," he told the crowd.
