Ouch, that hurt!

Just had my first laser treatment today. Good news, technician said I had close to ideal results. Bad news, it hurt more than I had possibly imagined! Like little knives stabbing me in the face. As soon as the session was over, bought the lidocaine to use before the next session. Hopefully, that will make things go easier. On the upside, my face feels like a baby's bottom and I think I am recovering quickly. Oh, the price of beauty!

did they do any sort of pre-treatment, or give hair length guidelines on the area treated?

I had my first session today too! ... I decided to do my chest first as a test, because I have red hair which can be tricky.

It felt like someone was sticking little needles into me.   A lot more painful than I thought it'd be, but tolerable.   I'm afraid of the face/neck, but I scheduled my next session

They didn't numb the area, but they cleaned the area and I had shaved close. Any spots I missed they shaved before the session. I have pretty course hair which apparently didn't help. They also used a ton of cooling gel.

I would suggest a numbing gel beforehand.

Get one of those cooling gel freezer pac, freeze it and take it with you.  It really helps.

My old tech would give you one to hold to the area they were going to work on.  Then you would move it to the next area. she would dry the last area and zap.
