Swimming, no real binder?

Okay, I cant actually afford a binder. I've been doing sports bra + ace bandage over that...and yes, I am being super careful not to wrap too tight and I regularly readjust it. They are small, just perky, so i don't have to compress too much compared to some guys, which is deff something I don't take for granted.

...so, beach trip. I was thinking trunks + rash guard, but uh...what are your experiences with ace bandage binding while swimming? I was thinking i'd have to get another set to bind with while this one is drying. Does chlorine or salt water completely destroy the bandage? I tried to look around and search for some info, but I trust you guy's advice way more than some random dude's blog. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Salt water doesn't have anything in it to break down or react with fabric. Chlorinated water does. You should be able to swim in saltwater in anything that you can safely wear, sweat in, and machine wash. But if you want to swim in a pool you should choose things that are designed to be worn in pools - for instance, a women's racing swim suit or polo suit can have a pretty good binding effect. The Underworks binders also seem to be fine - at least I've never heard anything to indicate they have problems in any form of water.

As far as Ace bandages specifically, all I can say is that soggy Ace bandages are heavy and don't really do very much. And moving water can get under them and lift up the edges and make them roll, stretch, or slide in unpredictable ways. You might be better off just wearing your sports bra.

What I wore to swim this summer was swim trunks, an Underworks 998 T-shirt style binder, and a sun protection shirt (I wore mountain biking style, but who cares, as long as it's opaque and looks good) on top.

Thanks kyril...guess I'll just have to suck it up and be the skinny weird guy with moobs...ew. Guess I'll start saving for a real binder. Thanks again!

I'd be severely afraid that it would come undone in the water and I'd feel naked and exposed.
I won't even swim with an underworks binder...cause I have that whole lack of nipples thing when binding.
Paranoid much? No, just self conscious.
