just wondering , because i've always had shortness of breath episodes and it happens to be almost exclusively when my dysphoria gets at it's peak , also (most of the times) when i'm laying or getting ready to sleep (which also happens to be the times where dysphoric feelings "if any" are amplified)

when it happens it's like i can breath but i'm not getting enough oxygen so sometimes even if i was tired i can't sleep for hours, and i have to take deep breath and hold for a while and somehow this makes me feel better.

i went to a GP , did some blood work and nothing , he then referred me to a specialist, i was suspecting that it was sleep apnea but he told me it wasn't because it happens almost only when i'm awake , and it's not like something blocking the air (i'm a very silent sleeper btw) but rather feels like.. the air doesn't contain enough oxygen , or my lungs don't want to work . although i remember two or three times i woke up gasping for air after thinking that i wasn't breathing , like the airway was open but the lungs muscle wasn't moving

could it be because i used to smoke ? but i quit like 2 years ago ,besides these bad days have been happening even before i started smoking
or could it be because i hold my breath a lot so my lungs some how used to "not working"?

arrgh it's a mystery , maybe it's some kind of delusions that are stimulated by feeling generally uncomfortable

but anyway , anyone ever had shortness of breath that were somehow related to dysphoria?

Really sorry for taking so long to read your post.

I get this, have done most of my life. In my case, I know it's anxiety, though I can't explain why.

It's like I can't get a decent breath. I inhale deeply and sometimes, get some relief, but it soon returns.

I demonstrate to myself that it is anxiety by going to my allotment and getting busy with something. My mind is taken to other things and I suddenly realise I don't have the probem any more.

I'm making these points on the assumption that your Dr has said you are heathy. There are some health problems which can cause this.

May I also suggest that you will, eventually, get a thought that, perhaps he missed something. Maybe you have a serious problem.

No, he didn't miss anything.

Anxiety is a drag. But when you have insight, at least you can have (another) laugh at yourself.

thanks ^_^ i thought no one had clue what i was talking about . 1 month isnt too long though :D
my psychiatrist long ago told me that i have severe anexiety and to be honest i didnt believe her because for one 'severe' is a big word , besides i rarely have my heart rate rise with no obvious reason. but anyway ,since i did that post i decided to monitor these episodes more closely . and i found out that it comes when i'm feeling generally stressed over something or when i'm worried that it might happen (as in when i'm worried that the i wont be able to breath etc etc )  or when i remember it and hope it doesnt happen (like right now when i read the post , remembered and it came back x_x)
but overall it has been a while since last time it happened , and omg yeah thinking about it makes it happen so i'm gonna stop talking now >.< . but not before sincerely thank you  :)
