There is a condition in which a person who is anatomically one sex feels strongly that they really ought to have been born anatomically the other sex. Put simplistically, the brain is one sex and the body is another. Coupled with this is the desire to be seen and treated as a member of the other sex and to associate with the other sex as a peer, as most natal members of that sex would want. We call this condition transsexualism.
