Welcome to Susan's, Kyle.  :icon_flower:

There's a lot of good information and good people here.  Each of our stories is unique but we have a lot in common.  Settle in, pull up a keyboard, and explore.

Be sure to look under the Announcements heading.  There you will find the rules we live by in this little world of ours:
Look through the other stuff there, too.

Happy exploring. :icon_wave:

Hi Kyle, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 3300 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another brother. :icon_hug:

Hey, welcome!  You sound like a for-real transguy to me, and I think that's very cool.  It's awesome that you know who you really are, accept yourself and are accepted by many important people in your life.  Because I work in the medical field, and have for many years, I can tell you two things about your breast questions.  First, at your age, you are still having breast maturation even though you may not actually see it.  What that means is it's risky longterm to bind your breasts.  So, if you truly want to look like a guy, you will eventually have to have what transguys call top surgery.  The surgeon would call it a reduction mammoplasty.  That's a drastic and expensive step.  Be SURE before you decide to really do that.  Second, you can do "minor binding" with sports bras and certain types of clothes which is much safter and more comfortable than harcore breast binding.

See the wiki section of this website for advice you can trust about this.

We're glad you're here, so relax, get comfortable and settle in.  You're accepted here.    :)
Believe.  Persist.  Arrive.    :D

Hey, Kyle, welcome!  I'm pretty new here myself but also on the transmasculine side of the spectrum.  I've got a similar chest size and have had some success with binding with a binder and a sportsbra known for its chest-flattening effects (the Frog Bra: http://www.titlenine.com/product/310900.do).  Maybe if you can't get a binder right now, you can get one such flattening sportsbra: http://www.ftmguide.org/binding.html#sportsbra.

LaceyLynne, I'm not sure where you heard all this stuff about FTM chests, but I wanted to make some clarifications.  The long-term effects of chest binding aren't threats to one's health; though binding may cause the breasts to become less dense and appear to age faster, it's not unhealthy if you don't care about having a chest that looks like it came from the cover of a women's popular magazine.  Binding too tight, enough that it affects lung function or damages the ribs or skin, is a different story and is obviously very bad for one's health.  It's not inherently safer or more comfortable to wear a sportsbra than a binder, although ace bandages and duct tape, among other things, can be dangerous and painful binding materials.  Not all transguys have top surgery to remove their breasts, but surgeons tend to call it "chest reconstruction" rather than "double mastectomy", what a simple removal of all breast tissue would be called, because it involves special techniques to contour the chest to look like that of someone who didn't develop breasts in the first place.

Hi young man,
Welcome to Susan's; lots of very supportive FtMs with lots of experience. Take things slowly and get use to being you.

I would like to expand, gently, on ilanthefirst's comments. We have had a few guys getting lung infections following binding. Not my physical problem but do be aware that it can be a problem. I'm sure several of the guys will post more specifically.

Take your time.

Hugs

Cindy
