Well my mother/grandmother ran into their rooms after I told them I won't cut my hair, and my mother is crying about it I think. My mother said, "You have to cut your hair, I won't ask you again for the rest of your life". And then I told  her, "I won't be here pass mid 2011". It's for these senior year pictures, and I know they are lying to me when they said I look bad. They just want short hair for short hair. I don't even understand why my mother cares so much since her ex-boyfriend had really long hair down to his mid-back. You would think she was more open minded then that... and I never gave her any issues all my life, it's just the one thing I want.

I don't look bad at all, and this is probably the best looking phase of my life. I had some older woman telling me I was good looking, and a female security guard smiling flirtatiously at school. I know how I look right now, and I feel secured about it.

Shockingly, I had the school slut telling someone I was good looking when a long time ago she said I wasn't good looking, but she's awesome anyways.

What should I do, to stop them from acting like this???? My grandma is acting like I really said a mean thing when all I said was, "Can we talk about this privately without grandma persuading you?"

I absolutely do not want to cut it.

If you wash your hair regularly and keep it well brushed, no split ends etc, it should look ok for the school photos.  Most mothers are happy to have their teenage sons free of dirt and vaguely tidy.

Maybe to pacify them you could have it styled like your Mum's favourite rock star from her teenage years?  Have you let them know that the girls like it long?  Blackmail is such a dirty word but so effective!! ;D

You bring back some bad memories. I came to decide there's just no way to entirely please myself and my family. I've always said that the best way to be well accepted with longer hair is to keep it looking very good and in a normal style (even if the style is normal for the opposite gender). A high school senior is certainly old enough to make his/her own decisions about hairstyling. It's a petty and controlling gesture for them to fuss with you about this. Stand up for yourself. Once your family learns there are the new boundaries of their control, I think everybody will be happier. It's always tough for parents when they realize their kids are growing up, but it's relieving when these little crises are over.
