Transgender leaders say that Healthy San Francisco, the city's health insurance program for uninsured residents, is discriminatory because it excludes sexual reassignment services, treatment, and surgery.

At least one person has filed a complaint with the city's Human Rights Commission due to the exclusionary policy, the Bay Area Reporter has learned, and the city's health department is in talks with the agency about how to remedy the situation.

This would truly be a great issue to see rectified! All programs that get created have loop holes. Closing those loop holes is what progress is! Of course, if California One Care had passed this would have been already remedied. So the work continues. Great job, Jackson and Kristina! Keep their feet to the fire!

my town in northern England pulled the same stunt and excluded TS from LGB stuffby saying 'TS are different'  - so while I am happy to comcur with that I did point out that some aspects of care and services for LBG can and do apply to TS.
But they went ahead as purely LGB.
