According to testimony, Ms. Lawrence's lungs filled with silicone while being injected to enlarge her hips. The industrial-grade silicone had been illegally purchased through a furniture manufacturer.

These procedures are especially common among young and poor transgender women involved in sex work and beauty pageants seeking a quick and cheap way to enlarge breasts, hips, cheekbones and lips. The outlawed procedure is performed by unlicensed practitioners, and silicone maims and kills many young transgender women a year.'

This comes down to simple common sense. Will you also get SRS from a fly-by-night individual who is not a doctor? When you accept medical treatment from someone who is not licensed to practice medicine you have nobody to sue when the procedure goes wrong and they are long gone. You have no warranties of any kind. Plus, you are dealing with a criminal as this person is committing a federal offense as well as state crimes by practicing medicine without a license and importing chemicals illegally into the country.

Having said that I am borderline on whether we should be discussing this subject at all. As I recall during my early days on the forum I participated in a similar debate that was subsequently locked and deleted by Susan. Direct silicone injections have proven dangerous, even fatal in some cases. They have been banned in some countries and are therefore possibly even technically illegal in those countries. This forum can not support or condone such dangerous procedures so I am going to lock this topic now.

It may possibly be unlocked by another moderator later if they disagree with my decision.
