hey mate,

I had mine done in Brisbane a year ago. I didnt have private health insurance and paid for it by myself - Drs Fee, Anthenstic and Threatre cost come to $6850 - I got about $1200 back from Medicare so was out of pocket $5650

It was worth every penny  ;D

Great thanks :)

I'm having a bit of trouble researching good Australian doctors too, any chance you know a good site with some pictures?
Or who are the specialists in Australia?

Hey xander

FTM Australia website is a good one.. They have a Yahoo group too that has info on surgeons/docs etc (among other stuff).

The main ones I hear people talk of are in Sydney and Brissy.. But there are surgeons in almost every state - where are you??

I'm in the sunshine state too. Who did your's shortstack???

There are also a few guys on youtube that talk about their top surgery and you can hit them up if you have questions as I did.

There are a few Aussie boys in here mate - we're not completely alone ;)

Yeah there is 2 main surgeons that do FTM top surgery here in Aus. One in Brissy (which is more expensive for his technique) Dr Bartholomeusz... not sure how to spell it exactly  and in Sydney is Dr Megan Hassel (she works out cheaper out of pocket due to her technique being billed under Medicare).

Ftmaustralia has a lot of info on it as was already said, and Ozguys is the Yahoo support group which I'm also a member of. They have a lot of members with experience with chest surgery and stuff that can give you an idea on costs etc.

I'm in Brissy too and will be seeing Dr Bartholomeusz. I have health insurance and he assured me I would have no out of pocket expense. But my mate is also going through him and he doesnt have health insurance and has to fork out about $8000.
