Thomas Beatie, the 1st transgender man to ever give birth has now leapt to Brangelina's side presenting his opinion on the issue. He insists that Brad and Jolie are doing no felony by dressing up their child like a boy. He emphasizes that Shiloh, being merely 6, cannot feel the difference between a male and a female.

It's not up to Thomas Beatie, or anyone else, to decide whether or not Shiloh is trans.  It's entirely up to Shiloh.

I'm not going to say ze is or isn't, just, god.  One would think that Beatie, also being trans, would understand that better than anyone.

Well, Thomas Beatie isn't exactly the shining example of a trans person. He's definitely not the first pregnant transman either....just the first to run to Oprah about it (you can see where I'm going with this....). They should just let the kid be a kid and explore the world for her or him -self.

And who the hell is Thomas Beatie to say that Shiloh "is merely 6, cannot feel the difference between a male and a female"?

There are many people in the trans community that don't think that Thomas Beatie is a true transsexual since he's fond of giving birth to children (and only women give birth) and hasn't had his female reproductive organs surgically removed.   I'd like to know how he feels about that.

(1) there is absolutely no need to go tearing down other trans people. How many trans women have fathered children? Thousands? Tens of thousands? And I guarantee some would go on doing it post-HRT if only HRT didn't cause permanent sterility. If you want biological kids, you work with what you've got.

(2) The linked article is pretty terrible reporting. This is what Thomas Beatie actually said (it's buried in there):
Quote"When you're a child, you don't really have a solid grasp of what male and female are. Unless Shiloh actually identifies as being male, she is not transgender. Gender is largely a state of mind, and I'm sure if asked, she would identify herself as a little girl."
Which is correct, except for the last bit of unverified speculation. It's true that small children don't know the subtleties of sex, sex identity, gender, and gender identity. Heck, most adults don't entirely understand all of them.

It's pretty common for little girls who like boys' toys, clothes, or games better, or who want to play with boys but feel excluded/set apart because they're girls, to say things that indicate that they want to be boys. It doesn't mean they are boys. "Unless Shiloh actually identifies as being male, she is not transgender." That's the fundamental fact of the matter. The odds that she's just a little tomboy are very high. Maybe he is trans - we'll find out in due time, but if that's the case, then the media feeding frenzy is still completely inappropriate and possibly harmful.

^ I totally agree.

I think the media should lay off actors/celebrities kids too! They are just children and need to live a normal life as much as possible, it's not their fault that their parents are high profile people.  Their life is not open for speculation or ridicule, end of story.

The media and their target audience are jumping to conclusions yet again because Chaz Bono and Stephen Beatty are indeed, transmen.  They are at least adults but still had no choice in being outed because of who their parents are.  :-\

without knowing how much of the kid's daily life is lived in a goldfish bowl full of media weirdos and how she lives her day with her own free choice of clothes, toys, games, pets and pals it's hard for us to know what she is and maybe the parents should keep her out of the media for a good few years.

I feel really sorry for this child.

We can only hope that Pitt and Jolie are as intelegent and careing as they appear to be.
