A young tansgender teen was elected homecoming king at Mona Shores High School in Muskegon, but was reportedly stripped of his title given to him by his peers by the school's staff as he was enrolled at the school as female, even though he was fully accepted at the school as a boy, even letting him wear the boy's uniforms.

The students however, stood up for the trans community and their fellow student by making a facebook page dedicated to the stripped boy (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=103699403028170&ref=search). In the description it reads, in part,

"Period. Our school not only lied to students, but they also promoted transphobia. Our school has made it clear that they don't want a transgendered student to represent Mona Shores. As students, we must stand up to assert the rights of Oak, and transgendered students everywhere."

Not only this, but the group's founders urge the other students to wear "Oak is our king" T-shirts to continue the support of the transgender community.
