So I went to fill my prescription last night, and the spiro was 86 dollars and the estrogen was 8. That was at Target but my friends dad told me to try Wal Mart. I was told from trans girls that hormones are cheap but  86 dollars is far from cheap. I was told by a few people that they payed 20-40 dollars a month. :'( This probably means I won't go to the full dose of spiro to make it last longer, which means it'll take more time for me to look like a girl. Blah. Well anyways my main question is where should I buy the prescription? I'm in the US btw.

I've read the same posts about $20-$60 per month for both E & Spiro and I have no clue where people are getting it that cheap. I live in the US as well and pay $60 for a 30 day supplyof Spiro and $20 for a 30 day supply of estradiol. Both generic. I have a feeling many of these lower prices being quoted are for lower dosages or via some sort of government subsidy program I'm unaware of. I pay out of pocket for these meds, as my health insurance won't cover them.  I'm taking near the max dosage for both and that is NOT covered under Walmart $4 program as some others use, so they obviously are on a lower dosage.

I've been wanting to add Avodart as well but at $130 for a 30 day supply, it gets pretty expensive quickly. Here's a link to the Costco drug price checker to give others an idea of prices here in the US:

I just tried to check prices online and lots of the discount sites were no longer working.
but I started with inhousepharmacy and was quite happy with them for a couple of years and they do have very low prices but are their packages allowed through the mail/customs and is there extra to pay anyway - to protect the profits of Big Biz?

Prescriptiongiant has Spiro   30 for $32. Lots of estrogens around the same.  If Walmart is doing E for $8 then you need to snap up a year's supply.

sounds like a "bad" place for med prices as I (used to) also get spiro from target and the non insurance price was $67 for the usual dose. (I paid copay for both spiro and estrogen)

It's $72 at drugstore.com, $40 at masters

I don't have any insurance :( I'm gonna take the prescription to Wal Mart and see if it's cheaper, I heard it is. And it can't be so much because of the dosage. This is my first prescription so I'm gonna be on the lowest doses.

I filled my E script at Wally World and it was $20 for 180.

Hmmm... my Wal-Mart charges $20 for a 90 day supply (180 pills). Same thing? Also is the E micronized?

However they don't stock the correct dosage for my Spiro.  ???

Walmart has this really great thing called the 4 dollar prescription plan.  They offer a number of scripts for 4 dollars/30 day supply; I don't know if this would count as talking about does (IF IT DOES I APOLOGISE!) but it looks like they offer 30 2 mg estradiol tabs for 4 dollars, 90 for 10.

For a complete list.  Spiro doesn't seem to be on there, unfortunately.

Well I bought my script from Wal Mart. Estrodiol was 8 dollars and then Spiro was gonna be 86 dollars but my besties dad is a pharmacist and he said not to buy them there. So I bought a weeks worth of spiro (total was 13 bucks) and he's going to get me the rest of the spiro from a like self owned pharmacy that isn't corporate. He says it'll be really cheap there so I'll get the rest of my spiro next week. YAY!! Starting tomorrow!!!

I think this is good thread itsbritney, how about we make some list for the price of E and Spiro from every country? and the best place (the cheaper) to buy it?
For me (Indonesia) I usually buy spiro arround USD $60 per month and price for E arround USD $15, I have been 9 month on hrt.
Thanks for this thread, so we can make comparison the cost even that's impossible to buy those things for cross country. :D :D :D
