This might not be the right placve to post this but here it goes. I have been passing blood, it has been going on now for like 6 months, right, but today, there was like a LOT of blood. It is not all the time...anyways my scary situation is going to the hospital.. I mean I want to go, but I am scared none-the-less. Have any of you been in a situation, and been treated badly because your transgender? What would be a good example???  HMMMMM, ok, this is a llittle extreme but 100% true. I was raped by two men about 4 years ago, they dragged me into the bushes along a freeway off ramp (los Angeles) anyways, they ripped my cloths off of me,,,,,,fast forward,,,,,,,,after the oe was done and before the other could you know, take over, I was able to kick the one in his crotch and the other one in his face. then I jumped up and ran down the offramp (mind you Im almost naked,) and I use the first payphone i saaw to call 911.....when the police showed up, (it was pretty fast) they drew their weapons, cuffed me, asked me if I was on parole or probation (i was not) then booked me for not having photo id....never even once did they listen to me.....well I FEAR  that same kind of hate gooing into the emergency room,,,what if I cant tell they have prejudice and they do something to really hurt me,,,or if they find that it is serious, just tell me its ok.... how can I find a way to be checked out by a trans friendly doctor,,,,,what do i do?

Passing blood can be caused by many things. Some are minor, but some of them are potentially very serious!

So go IMMEDIATELY, and get checked as a precaution!

You don't say whether it is from the backside or in urine. If in urine it can indicate serious problems with the kidneys.

If in the feces then it can indicate either something as simple and minor as a nicked haemorrhoid, or a bleeding polyp or more seriously a small tear in the bowel or in an extreme case the early signs of bowel cancer.

Either way it is simply NOT something you can afford to ignore. However bad the stigma of being trans, the fact is that if you were unlucky and had got one of the more serious conditions then your chances of survival are hugely dependent on how swiftly you get help.

Worst case, being laughed at in hospital might not be fun but its a hell of a lot better than hearing a doctor say to you "we could have saved your life if ONLY you had come in sooner - but as you delayed too long I am afraid this is now terminal!"

Please don't go there. LOG OFF and get this checked out RIGHT NOW!

Is there a university hospital near you? A university environment is a bit more diverse in thinking than your average hospital.

Sorry for the horrific thing that happened to you previously! Sometimes it is hard to look at police with respect when things like this happen. I have always respect law enforcement for the most part but geez.

Dana beat me to it. Uni hospitals  usually are more open, but in the end any hospital will work. If someone gets pissy or rude tell there supervisor and threaten hell on earth. Lol. It's a bluff but they wont risk the negative publicity. So go get your self checked!

You have been passing blood for 6 months, and havent gone to the doctor ??? :o  If I would even pass blood 2 times in a row I would go. Hope I dont seem rude, but you need to go see a doctor as soon as possible. Your health is nothing to play with.

In 1973, I was actually a resident in Hollywood. Then , there was a free clinic on Melrose . I think you at least need to go to a free Clinic . For all you know , you could well have an undiagnosed blood disorder .......... ellen
See ya on the road folks !!!

If you have one, take a supportive friend or family member, someone who can stick up for you. This is what some of my trans friends do when they see a doctor, even a dentist, for any reason. If there is nobody in your life like that, perhaps you can get in touch with a local support group and ask for help? I hope you live in an area that has one.

I can understand your fear, but you have to take care of your health. Six months is a long time. Don't make it seven.

Superkitty,

I hope that you have went to the hospital by the time you read this.  If not, please go as being afraid of discrimination is no excuse for not being seen, or risking your life.

I agree with the other posts, discrimination or not please go have yourself checked!... and I am so so sorry to hear about your rape experience and glad you got away.
I know here in Boston hospitals are pretty TG friendly, although I have raised an eye brow or two in a few occasions, never really met any hate they did help me with whatever I needed. Worse case for me was when I had UTI symptoms when I was visiting relatives In Argentina, the doctor was kind of in shock and asked a lot of questions from how and why I am doing this but she finally gave me the strip test and i needed and sent on my way with antibiotics..

I highly agree with the other posts on here. You need to have that checked out, don't play with your health. I know your scared but please get this checked out.

I second what Arch said, bring someone with you.
They will be support, a damper on rudeness and a witness.
Getting somebody from a support group is Ok.
Even if you just met them 1/2 hour ago, nobody else knows that.

Get yourself to a hospital.  Take a friend so you have somebody to talk to.  Hospitals are
generally pretty open minded and the folks in most of them are interested in getting you
healthy and returned back to your business.

It does seem like there are a large number of doctors out there who are genuinely curious but sometimes it comes off as attacking or rude (especially depending on the patients mind set at the time). I think everyone should keep that in mind when seeing doctors and being concerned about your trans identity... some of them genuinely just want to know and who else do they really have to ask? Sometimes just saying you aren't comfortable talking about that with them is enough to move them along :)

Kitty:

God, your rape experience is horrendous.  The cops' treatment of you is even worse.  The doctors potentially refusing to see and treat you is downright immoral ... and illegal.

Everybody here has given you great advice.  Take it.  What everybody said here about getting seen about your bleeding.  DO IT!  As a long-time medical para-professional, I can tell you that there are many things that could cause this.  They may be minor.  They may be serious.  Find out:  GET SEEN!

Finally:

Some of you may be angry with me for saying this, but I've got to say it to help Kitty ... and any and all of us in a similar situation:

Cops, doctors and/or hospitals that hassle you?  Sue the bastards.  Find a gun-slinging plaintiff's attorney who specializes in abuse cases.  Ask him or her to file a Motion to Pierce the Corporate Veil at the onset of filing pleadings in your civil action.  This makes the perpetrators personally liable for their actions.  They can't hide behind a corporation or a badge.  Then, shake and bake the mo' fo's.

These are almost unbelievable words coming from an aging hippie like me, but several decades of adult life have taught me that you have to deal with the real world as it really is.  People f__k with you?  Hammer the S.O.B.'s.  Be as methodical, thorough and swift in doing this as John D. Rockefeller would be in executing a business strategy.

Don't let these people screw you over, gals and guys.  They WILL ... if you let them.

Kitty, see a doctor.  The bleeding may be minor and inconsequential, but it may not be.  If it's anything serious, catch it early.

Good luck!
Believe.  Persist.  Arrive.    :D

Doctors are generally far more accepting about transsexualism than police officers. Get yourself checked out immediately!
