I was planning on changing my last name if my parents didn't accept my transition etc, but I don't want to leave my sisters.

I think my mom has talked me into keeping my last name :(

Hi Michael,

Which county are you located in ?

Let me know and I'll try to help but no promises.

Hey Michael,

Please keep in mind I am not a lawyer nor am I offering legal advice(  :-X ) but here are the links that may help you along.

Call them at the civil division in orlando and ask if there is an annex close to your house where you can fill out the forms. If none are available or you are close to downtown just go to the Clerk's Office and ask for the necessary paperwork. Then explain your indigent status and ask for a waiver of fees. They will give you the forms to fill out to apply for your name change application as well as your qualifications for having the cost of the action set aside.

Ruling on Florida Law that you can apply for either a full waiver or a postponement of civil court fees. If they give you a hard time(  >:(  ) then show them this ruling and they will find a supervisor who will make sure you get the application.

Good Luck with all this and I wish you the best! Maybe I'll bump into you sometime.

Hey Sara, thank you so much! :D I'll look into it and let you know what happens. Seriously thank you for taking the time to research that for me! :D

In most states, your name change should include the easy ability to change your surname.  Of course, this varies from state to state, I would imagine.  The good news is that you can check it out right online quickly and easily for your state.

As for me, I'm changing the whole kit 'n kaboodle.  The adoptive family legally disowned me because way back when, I didn't become their boy-genius, hot-->-bleeped-<--career cracker jack who did them proud.  You believe that s---?  F--- 'em! I have no family.   Surely, you can change your last name in your state too.  We can do it easily here in Oregon.

Surely, most of you are faring much better than this.  I certainly hope so.  Thanks.
Believe.  Persist.  Arrive.    :D

I changed everything all at once. Cost the same and no additional paperwork.
I'm in Oregon.
