It was twenty two years ago
a coworker confided to me that he was HIV positive.
he was an extremely talented man. always ready to crack a joke or give any advice.
one day he caught a cold. soon he could no longer work, then a month in the hospital. then he was gone. as i look back on the events it seems that it all happened in the blink of an eye.
just 32 years old.

So sad.  HIV and AIDS take to many young people.

Reminds my of the song "Timothy".

I am so sorry for the lose of your friend.

But take heart, cases like Tim's are a rarity anymore. The medications and proticals of treatment we have available today enable the average person with HIV to live a full life.

I know personaly, I was diagnosed with HIV five years ago. Actually I was diagnosed with full blown AIDS and went through what is known as medical salvage. I was brought back from the brink with modern medical science. I no longer have an AIDS diagnosis I am just HIV+, and my viral load has been undetectable for the last 5 years.

Get tested if you do not know your status. Even if you think you know, get tested anyways. Play safe. Stay safe.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend!

I know someone who is HIV+ and he was diagnosed 13 years ago and is currently going strong.   The medicines have gotten better to help people live longer who have been diagnosed.

I also agree with getting tested for HIV no matter what you think your status is.
