Chaz Bono began life as the daughter of Sonny and Cher, but spoke before Plachta Auditorium as his own self-defined person.

Bono, the only child of the pair of musicians, is an advocate for the LGBT Community, an author and a spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign. He spoke in Warriner Hall's Plachta Auditorium Monday night to share his struggles and experiences as a transgender person.

Much of his focus was on the importance of understanding gender identity.
