Old records, New doctors

I need to see a new doctor, dentist, optometrist, and dermatologist.  All of my old records from previous doctors refer to me by my old name and pronouns.  Will the new doctors request the records?  I don't want to out myself unnecessarily.  It's not like my dentist or eye doctor will need to know I was born female.  Will they be able to treat me if I don't let them see the old records?

My experience is they always do request your records.

My doctor requested my old files so she knew my complete medical history, even charged me an administration fee, typical practice here in Ontario.  My dentist started his own file and didn't ask for any old files.  I wouldn't be too concerned as in order to give you the proper medical care doctors need  to know your past medical history.  It's not as if they are going to blab the information to the world as they are bound by law to maintain confidentiality.  And it would be silly to think that your doctor would not find out about your past.

surely the dermatologist will need to know as there are some very sex-specific skin problems and treatments?

The dermatologist and general practitioner aren't the ones I'm concerned about.  I know at least the GP will need to know.  I just don't think it's necessary information for my dentist and optometrist.  What would be important history for them to know that I couldn't just tell them?  I just want to be prepared.

It's my experience that dentists are only concerned with information directly relevant to your teeth.

As for an optician, no chance.
