I've been on T for... almost 9 months now? And my voice still sounds teenagery. Like it needs to drop and fill out.

I was wondering if there were any guys who were mezzo soprano before T and if it took them a while for their voices to settle? It seems like the guys with deeper alto voices in the beginning settle faster.

I like that my voice is deeper, but I can't say the embarrassment of it has gone away.

This isn't really helpful but i had a pretty high voice pre-T and mine dropped decently at 3 weeks. Then it gradually dropped since then. I'm comfortably in the male range now and still dropping. I get mistaken for my dad on the phone or when I'm yelling out the window at my mom haha. Just give it time. My voice is still cracky a lot of the time though but it has a lot of resonance. Just give it time to fill out and practice speaking from your diaphragm.

Yeah I've been trying to strengthen my diaphragm for the sake of singing as now the vocal folds are heavier. I'll keep at it.

My voice never had that scratchy or sore thing going on, it's all been a gradual drop. I guess at almost 9 months I want things to hurry up because I don't feel like I'm getting enough changes.

Have you considered vocal training? Either voice lessons (which would be more singing) or a speech pathologist (which would involve more talking and weird exercises) can help with voice issues like cracking, weakness, and lack of resonance.

I've considered it, but I'm not sure if I could afford it. I know a guy who lives near me who has gone that route, I could try asking him about it. It might be cheaper than I thought.

So I was going through some old recordings from when I was 3 and 4 months on T and my voice didn't sound bad at all. It might just be all in my head.

I think my problem right right is that I'm speaking too lightly because my voice is a bit weak. I'll probably just try to strengthen it more because when I have diaphragm breathing going on it does get deeper but not as strong.
