well, doing it st home isn't usually that bad - but you shouldn't do the FIRST try at home. it's easier to maintain/touch-up/do the roots after the initial work is done professionally.

My hair is Black and when I dye it I use a dark brown.  My hair stays it natural color but I get some reddish highlights which is what I was looking for.

Dyeing your hair at home is best when just covering grey.  To change color, see a stylist.
