Too small?

I ordered my first binder recently.  I measured myself, and came out with a 30, so I went a size up and ordered a small model 983 from Underworks.  When I put it on, my boobs go slightly numb (not totally numb).  I wore it for an hour, then took it off, I'm paranoid of hurting myself.  It's been some 3 or 4 hours later, and my breasts are sore when I touch them.  Is the binder I ordered too small or does it just need to be stretched?  I'm naturally small anyway (like an A cup or something), so I don't really *need* a binder, but it makes me feel better.  Will stepping into it and forcing it over my hips help?

well in general i can say it probably just needs to be stretched out. the first few days i wore mine it was like the most horrible pain from hell (even though it was more around the 'armholes' or w.e. around the edges where my arms so through), and ive got a high pain threshold. but after that it was like, oh this isnt so bad. and now, i dont even feel it :P

it is possible that it is too small too, and i mean if youre too paranoid about it like you said, you can prob exchange it for a bigger size. it probably just needs to get worn in a bit though, is all

A medium would *probably* be too large for you, given that I'm a bit bigger than you and I had to exchange my medium for a small.  But then again, my cup size is bigger, so of that measurement, more of mine might be...compressable?  What measurement is 30" - ribcage, biggest part, or average of the two?

Stepping into it may help stretch it sooner, yes, particularly if you've got small shoulders and didn't find yourself nearly dislocating them to get it on.  But you're probably not going to be comfortable wearing it all day at first anyways, especially if you're a small cup size and may not have been running around in bras more uncomfortable than binders all the time, just slowly increase the time in it to get used to it.  At least if it's just the boobs hurting and not causing breathing trouble - do check to make sure your nipples aren't bent in some weird position that's causing them to be pulled in a different direction, too, that'll hurt.

It wouldn't hurt to try stepping into it.  Are you wearing any kind of shirt underneath your binder?  Try putting a sleeveless t-shirt on first and then put the binder on.  It might be friction causing the numbness.  You could always try putting bandaids or eye patches over your nipples if that's the main area of numbness.

It's the average of the 2.

The thing about stepping into it, I don't wanna tear it to bend it too much or anything.  I don't know how durable these are.  I've been putting it on through my head and it fits over it, but pretty much strangles me trying to pull it down.  But that's a good idea, gradually wearing it more and more.  I'll probably put something on my nipples at first like Adio suggested.  I can breathe fine, so that's not an issue.

Edit: I pulled it over my hips and that's helped a bunch.  It feels better now so it must've just been it being new and all.   :icon_yes:
