didn't this happen in the UK last year or the year before that? And it's not available in the US at all? (through the proper channels that is.... not referring to the internet).

...this is amazing it's the best progestin on the market should I be surprised?! Has anyone else in Australia heard anything about this? My pharmacist told me it's happening soon. :(

So if I can't use this one then the only other alternative available in Australia is provera..blahhh *cough* *spit*. I've never wanted to move away from Australia so much as I do right now. What's next Progynova? *rolls eyes*. From my understanding Provera increases ones sex drive where Duphaston doesn't so yeah this sucks big time.

Anyone heard anything? I sent the supplier an email so hopefully they have something worthy to share... I've felt like crap for weeks now and this is just the icing on the cake :-/

In the UK the discontinuation took place about 3 years back and was simultaneous with the intorduction of micronised Progestreone under the label Utrogestan, (also somtimes sold as prometrium in the USA)

Micronised progesterone is not a progestin... its the real thing Progesterone itself and it works a treat without the side effects that provera unfortunately had for many people.

I swapped from Duphaston to Utrogestan as soon as it became available.

Yeah I originally wanted to go on a Micronised progesterone but it hasn't been available here yet, hopefully they will make it available here as well in the same fashion. It would make sense to have to have an alternative for those that react to provera.. so fingers crossed. I originally looked at Prometrium and microgest but I would have had to order online which is way too expensive right now.
Thanks for the info I'll have to mention it to my GP at my next visit.

I take Microgest (micronized progesterone) & live in Australia.

The most popular online pharmacy for TG girls thats 'in the house' so to speak....sells it & includes a prescription from an Australian Doctor which even though I did have stopped by customs -->
As soon as I read them the doctors details they released the package(FYI: I have never talked to or met or heard of this doctor, simply given his details).

My endrocrinologist who prescribes me my hormones is not a fan of progesterone as it has caused severe depression in a number of trans girls that may of had a factor in their suicide/self harm but if you think you can mentally take it then I suggest Microgest as our customs dont seem to mind it from that particular pharmacy due to the doctor's name they use.

I take it due to anecdotal evidence that really seems substantiated. From a group of around 500 girls I've seen develop on various Yahoo groups through photo logs it is no doubt that progesterone gives significant breast enhancement.

Albeit alot of it is 'water weight' & some is dropped after the 10 day cycle -but- some is kept :) :)

I am aware of the online location of such medications but the cost has always put me off... just getting my hands on PBS covered meds takes a chunk out of my budget so paying ten times more is a little off putting. I kinda see that as a last option. If I can get an alternative to duphaston that is covered through my GP then I will do that first.
For six weeks worth of Duphaston it costs me $16.20 on PBS (pharmaceutical benefits scheme) which is a good price considering... retail they are $16.65 for just two weeks worth.. ouch.

The PBS website tells me that Duphaston has been discontinued by the manufacturer and will be removed from the PBS register on 01/01/2011.. And there is no equivalent listed yet..

However, the active ingredient of Duphaston is still available as part of Femoston 2/10, which is a combo of oestradiol with dydrogesterone.
