I got a 997 double front and tri top... Just got them today and I can't get either on (been struggling for several minutes, almost ready to give up). x__x I checked and rechecked my size, I don't know if I need to go up a size or not or if I need to do something to get it on.

Help? D8 *flail arms*

EDIT: Phew, got the tri top on. x.x Any tips on how to put the double front compression on (while I get out of /this/ contraption? lol)?

Step into the tri top, don't try to put it on like a t shirt (unless you step into your shirts too..in which case...you're a strange one)

I've never had the double front but I'd imagine since it has less compression....stepping into it should be fine until it stretches out a bit. To get the tri top off, I pull the straps off my shoulders and step out of it. Once it wears out, its possible to take it off like a shirt.

My hips are HUUUGE, I tried stepping into the tri top and that didn't work. It was actually much easier for me to put the tri top on like a T shirt over my head (small shoulders, large hips). I have NO idea how I'm gonna get into the double compression one... I did get a smaller size, might just have to size up.

Side note: Getting out (of the tri top) was much easier than getting in. XD I was afraid once I was in the thing, I would get stuck for life! LOL *tries 997 next*

Let us know how it goes. I believe Underworks will take an exchange if a binder is too small/big but I dont' know all the terms and conditions on that one.

Ok... I've been trying to get into the 997 for almost an hour. x_X That's never a good sign lol. I shouldn't have gone a size smaller than what I measured, STUPID STUPID STUPID. DX Ah well, I'll just ask for an exchange for a larger size. Thanks for your help. =)

One thing that helped me was keeping track of how I adjusted my body, not just randomly struggling while the binder refused to cooperate. Try different moves. When you get to a certain point and are almost there, stop and relax a bit. If you're too tense, you won't be as mobile.

You may also find that once it's on, it's actually harder to get off than to put it on. Again, try different things, don't panic, try relaxing.

I couldn't step into binders, either, and my hips weren't all that big.

After a few wearings, the garment should loosen up just a bit. That will make it easier next time--at least, until you wash it. It takes a little while for the binder to loosen up permanently. And I'm not sure how much certain models do loosen up.

You also might try doubling up the binder--fold it in half, essentially--before you try to put it on. I don't know if this works with the models you have, but it's worth a try. That became my modus operandi with the cotton concealer.

Good luck.

Hm... doubling up, sounds like a good plan, gonna try that before I give up on the 997. XD (I swear, I shouldn't have lunged for the small size! lol)

I just got my new tri-top, and struggled to get it on too.   Much tighter than my 997.  I had to step into my 997 the first week or so, and then it stretched out enough to pull over my head.   I would definitely try rolling it up, pulling over your head, then unroll

I've never been able to step into binders. I find it far easier to pull it over my head.
I put my arms in the holes, then pull it over my head. This usually means that the arms and head are through, but the rest of the binder is all rolled up, so it's just a case of unrolling the rest of it down.

Yes, this is exactly what I did to get my Tri Top on. Unfortunately even with this method, I can't get the 997 on (I definitely ordered it too small. :() Oh well, guess I'm exchanging the 997 for a black Tri Top. 8D (The Tri Top is awesome in so many ways, I don't feel compelled to try the 997 lol).

So now you know which model you prefer and which size to get. I'm glad you got SOMEthing out of this experience. :D

I got medium Tri Top and small double front 997. The medium fits perfectly, I guess the small is too small for me lol!

eep!
I just bought a double front 997!
I got it a size smaller than what my chest measured too.
How many inches 'larger' were you than the binder?
(just for comparison to how much larger I am than the binder)

sorry if that's too personal, I'm just concerned that mine will also be too small. I only bought one binder, it's my first, and I can't afford to have to get another one :(

Hey... I don't remember what size my chest is when I ordered my binder, but I did order a medium which was was only like two or three inches smaller than what my chest measured to be. It's tight, but I think getting the large wouldn't have compressed the way I liked.

Ok. I have big hips and small shoulders, so I have to pull mine over my head too. I wear two sizes smaller than my measurements indicated. It can be done.

Step 1: Don't panic. Really, stop panicking right now! Your binder will not suffocate you. You will not be stuck in it forever. It's not going to hurt you. You will eventually get it on. Breathe.

Step 2: If the binder is partially on, take it off.

Step 3: If it's a tri-top, fold up the bottom edge about 3 inches all the way around. If it's a double front, fold it up 6-8 inches.

Step 4: Put your arms (only your arms) into the binder. Stick your hands through the arm holes.

Step 5: Raise your arms over your head, holding them as close together as you can (I find that I can make my upper arms almost touch behind my head, but this depends on shoulder flexibility). Let the binder fall as far down your arms as it will go. Try to arrange it so that your head is in the head opening.

Step 6: Pull your arms down to your sides. Use the leverage of your arms to pull the binder down. It will bunch up in a terrifying constricting band right under your armpits.

Step 7: Don't panic. Seriously, stop panicking. If your hands are sweaty, rinse them off and dry them. Relax. It may be uncomfortable, but it's not going to suffocate you, and being shaky or panicky is going to make it harder to finish getting it on. And at this point, you won't be able to get it off until you finish getting it on.

Step 8: Find the bottom edge of your binder. This may be difficult - it really likes to hide - but the folding you did should make it easier. I find it easiest to find the edge under one of my armpits.

Step 9: Pull the edge out all the way around the binder. The more of it you get out, the easier it should be - if you can get the whole front edge out, the back should follow.

Step 10: Pull the edge down to your hips (bottom of ribs for the tri top). If there are wrinkles in the inside layer, just pull the whole thing down more until they smooth out. Make sure it's not all wrinkled or scrunched up in the upper back area.

Step 11: Adjust yourself.

Stepping into it did not work for neither me nor my son....

However, I have to have someone help me for the first couple times with a new binder to stretch it out some.  If I went larger I wouldn't get the same effect.  The person helps me by pulling down on the back.  I thought mine were way too small but after a couple wearings and washings they fit great.

I had so much trouble getting into the small double front that I ordered a tri-top in medium, since I thought they ran a bit smaller, and I don't have the option of assistance getting in or out of the thing.  And while it was easier to get into, yes - I could pull it on over my hips instead of dislocating my shoulders...it's a bit too big once it's on.  *sighs*  And if it's just gonna stretch with wear and not shrink in the wash...oops.  I was so terrified of never being able to get into the small tri-top, though!  I guess I'll have to see if I can swap sizes on the thing, I didn't get it direct from Underworks so I'm not sure if they'll let me.

I know this threads a little old, but I might still do some good :) I read most of this, but admit I skimmed a bit, so if I somewhere missed a sentence that says the same thing as me, I'm sorry :(

I find I have really quite large hips, and when I first got my binder (the correct size for measurments) I could not get it on, tried for a few days every which way and nothing seemed to work. Then I hit on gold, and use this method every day. First, I turned in inside out, then stepped into it, arm strap end facing down. Slowly and carefully I worked it up until the edge was right at the widest part of my hips. By that point in time, the binder was touching a lot of skin, and would pretty much refuse to move any higher anyway.

What I then did was reach down and grab the arm straps, and pull them up my body. Having the material over your hips makes the rest of it slide easily over and up, meaning I just had to work it a little, and it was right up to the top of my chest. It was a little difficult getting my arms in the holes, but you get used to the angle pretty quickly :P Then all I had to do was pull the doubled up bit out from underneath, and fit it down over my hips.

To take it off I just work it over my shoulders and take it off like a T-shirt, but I suppose you could step out of it too. Hope I helped :)
