Antony And The Johnsons
http://www.theage.com.au/entertainment/music/antony-and-the-johnsons-20101019-16rkd.htmlWe tend to focus on the voice of Antony Hegarty when discussing his music, which now extends to four albums under the name Antony and the Johnsons, as well as contributions to a dozen albums and projects by other artists. (And, very soon, a book of his art, which shares a philosophical and artistic impetus with this album.)
It's understandable. This album confirms the way he can swoop and fly and sink forlornly though elegantly, yet also tremble, yearn, overpower and beg. It is a thing of often tremulous beauty that, while his lyrics have long left the area of gender identity, remains an instrument that can be male and female and neither.
