wigs! spend $50 up and it should be good for a few months or maybe a year if you look after it.  get one that fits nice and is a good colour to match your age, ethnicity and skin and after a few hours you will not want to be without it.

Should I get the human hair ones? I found a few cute synthetic ones for around 50 but for some reason I felt nervous to buy them. The reviews were all great and they looked good in most of the customer images.

I'm not sure which one is best. I'd get it in a light brown to match my hair.

I have used the clip-in extensions before.  You should remove the each night.  Wigs of course are wigs.  you need to wear a wig gap to keep you own hair up out of the way.

Weaves can be hard on hair.  But whichever you decide, make sure to match your hair exactly or it will look unusual.

For a while I was like ->-bleeped-<- it I'll just get a weave every few months till my hair grows out but I realized, that would damage my hair so bad. So I was like I'll just stick it out and let it grow, but it's been getting at me lately. I think I'll invest in a wig.

synthetic are so good nowadays you can get two or three.
go to a wigshop and explain why you need one and you'll probably find it a nice experience and make a new friend.

I don't know if theirs a wig shop in this area and I don't think they'd be trans friendly either =[

Janet_Girl

Most wig shop have Trans and cross dressing clients.  Just walk in and tell them what you are wanting and your price range.  They are more than willing to help, because it is a sale.

Three things then: (and please don't be offended by the first)

1. What on earth have you done to your previously lovely avatar? It looks positively scary now - like something I might dream after eating too much strong cheese late at night! For goodness sake change it, unless you want to look like something out of Stephen King's imagination. ;) Sorry I had to ask since no one else seems prepared to do so...

2. I agree wig until it grows, which in my case would take all of two or three months.

3. Good luck with the shopping trip. Have fun.

(If you get some idiot in the shop trying to make something of it just say you are doing some amateur drama maybe )

Scary! hahaha aww I thought I looked cool! It's my Halloween costume. I'm going as Ke$ha lol. :P
I think I'm going to save up and buy a wig in a few weeks :P

Britney , I hope you dont take offense to this. But after Rejennyrated"s post, I couldnt stop laughing.  :P  As for wigs, I was never into them. When I started my transition, it took me over 3 years, for my hair to reach the length you see it in my avatar. But each person is free to do what he wants.

Imo wigs are only good if they are super realistic. The super-realistic ones tend to be very expensive, unfortunately.
As for clip-on extensions, it depends on the length of your hair. If your hair is super short it will not blend properly with the extensions.
As for weaves, the advantage they have over clip-ons is that as long as your hair is long enough to cornrow, you can get it sewn on, and you won't have to worry about it looking strange with the length of your real hair since your real hair is bound up in cornrows. One very big disadvantage to them (that I learned the hard way) is traction alopecia. My hair is really thin now because I shed so much after I got my weave taken out. If you see a professional and have a weave for only a few months at the most, your hair should be fine, but if the cornrows are too tight there's a pretty good chance you could suffer from traction alopecia. Oh, I should also mention that getting your hair cornrowed is EXTREMELY painful, especially for me since I already had thin hair and as a result there was a lot more pressure exerted on my scalp.

Frankly I think the best thing to do is to get a short feminine cut and just grow it out. Eventually your hair will be long enough so that you can wear clip on extensions without the top layer being too short.

Wow that sucks bb I'm sorry. I'm never gonna bother with a weave now haha. My sister did like 6 cornrows on me, 6 across my whole head so they were huge and pretty much just like a few french braids, so painful. I can't imagine getting real cornrows =[

My hair is so ugly I don't think theirs any way to save it with a hair cut. I just gotta wait

How short is your hair? There are plenty of very feminine shorter hair styles, to go for. Obviously this my not be something you want to do for a number of reasons but it is an option worth considering.

It's about 4 inches on the side and maybe 6 on top and back. It's curly and frizzy and I can't even straighten =/
