Probably because:

• They are potentially risky to your health and therefore...
• Any hormone regime should be under close supervision by a qualified medical practitioner

Quote8. The discussion of hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and it's medications are permitted, with the following limitations:

A. Advocating for or against a specific medication or combinations of medications for personal gain is strictly prohibited.
B. Discussing the means to acquire HRT medications without a prescription, and self medication without a doctors care is prohibited.
C. Discussing dosages is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.

Hi Valery,

I concur with Stormy Weather.  Anyone taking hormones has to be under the supervision of a qualified physician, for they can be very dangerous to your health.  It is also important to mention that before a prescription for cross gender hormones can be issued, the patient has to be undergoing psychological therapy for GID.  Once a diagnosis for TS'im has been established, the patient is usually referred to an endocrinologist  who performs a thourough medical exam, runs a series of blood tests, and then issues a prescription for HRT.

Please take a second to read this article in our wiki which can provide you with further information.

ok, i feel that all person can be qualified physician as long as they have studied on the matter and understand all of it.
i am treating myself, no i am not a "qualified physician" however i do understand what i am doing,
changeing from herbs to actual medical stuff i do not and there is no info for this, that is why i am woundering.
being that i know herbs, and not todays medical HRT. there is a lack of studies on the matter. my doctor is just that, a doctor not a herbal expert or "herbal qualified person" just a doctor. he just wants to refier me to a nutionist. this is not want i am looking for, i must know if i can change form herbs to todays medicanand if so, what kind of side affects will there be, and if it can kill me, just the same, should i even consider the change? yes the herbs i have been on work, i just feel that i am now ready for a "qualified physician" , for a nowday treatment.

Taking hormones can change the chemical properties of your blood with no symptoms. Some changes can cause sudden death without warning. You need to have your blood analyzed by a endocronologist before starting hormones and regularly thereafter. The combinations and dosages must be tailored to each individual. The correct dosage for one person could be fatal to the next person. This is not something to experiment with, it is stupid and very dangerous.

A person might have studied on the matter and understand all of it; however, that does not make that person an endocrinologist.
