Allergic Reaction?

I'm on testosterone cypionate and my back, shoulders, neck and basically all of the places that take most of the pressure from my clothing have become red and a little swollen and itchy.

I know, "go see a doctor" and I will next morning. Do I need to expedite this? It's not fatal, is it? I thought it might be an allergic reaction to the oil but my last shot was a week ago and I've been on T for two months so far with no reaction.

Just looking for input I suppose. I hope they don't take me off

It sounds like standard contact dermatitis.  If you're saying its from your clothing, its probably a reaction to laundry detergent or fabric softer.  Did you change either one recently?

It's spreading to my face and arms now.

No, I've been using the same soap for at least a year now.

Did you eat anything out of the ordinary today? Or switch to a different body wash/shampoo?

It might be the stuff they put it in. Mine is in sesame oil, but there might be other solutions. It's possible it's just a bad batch or something.

Nope not that either. I thought about that. It's also messing a little with my breathing and making my nose run.

This is troubling. I appreciate the help.

But I have been on the same stuff for at least two months so is it reasonable for it to take that long to manifest? The injection site is not reacting for some reason.

Definitely sounds like an allergic reaction. Maybe try some Benadryl? Been around anything that you aren't usually around? My ex used to have the same thing happen when she went around weird things like incense so maybe it's just something small you haven't thought about?

Hmm but I did the same thing I do every day today lol. Didn't eat anything new, didn't see anybody new, didn't use different clothes, no new pets.

I will look for benadryl. This is confusing me.

Where are you from? Depending on the weather/seasonal changes in pollen, etc. might be effecting you. It might be an allergy that you are developing. Sometimes you don't develop allergies to specific stimuli until you are older.

California. It was 95 degrees today, isn't it supposed to be fall/winter? Wouldn't that kind of thing normally surface in the spring or summer? Why, allergies?

Hope it's not the T lol, but I doubt that it is.

I live in PA and up until 2-3 years ago I didn't get seasonal allergies. Now I DIE during ragweed season and here and there depending on the fluctuation of pollen, humidity, what have you. It sucks. My eyes water, my face gets swollen, etc.

Your doctor can order a simple allergy test where they stick you a bazillion times in the arm to see what you react to. Does your Doctor have a Nurse Practitioner on call or an emergency number you can call? I ask because mine always does if you call into their office it connects to one of the 3 Dr's phones.

I've seen pictures of those allergy tests o_o It is not appealing. My breathing seems to be getting a little easier though so I'll probably be able to hang on until tomorrow morning.

Yeah, they aren't my idea of fun. That's good that you can breathe though, I hear that's pretty important.


And, like Michael Alexander said though, a Benadryl can do wonders. At best it'll help you rest if the itchyness is bothering you.

Well, remember that T causes skin changes - it's entirely possible that it could cause you to start reacting to something that didn't bother you before. (For instance, if your detergent/fabric softener contains an oil-soluble fragrance, and your skin gets oilier, that means more of the fragrance can be dissolved against your skin)

It sounds definitely like some allergic reaction to something that you have been near or eaten/taken in last 48 hours. Could be hives.

Also, could it be chicken pox?   We had an outbreak of chicken pox here a few months ago.

That's interesting. I have been quite oily lately.

The rash has all but faded now but I will still see a doctor. I don't think it is chicken pox but I guess it's still a possibility since I've never had it. I've been vaccinated and exposed to people with chicken pox on multiple occasions and I haven't caught it.
