When I first started going out as female and meeting people, about 3 years ago, I had a lot more fat around my neck. That fat has since disappeared. Now my Adam's apple, although small, is visible if I am leaning forward and sometimes while swallowing.
Everyone tells me that they cannot see it. However, I can see it in the mirror.
I know that wearing turtlenecks or scarves can help hide the Adam's apple. I avoid wearing turtlenecks because wearing them makes my jaw line more prominent. Without the fat that used to be around my jaw line, my bones seem a bit more masculine than I would have liked. Scarves have the same issue, plus the fact that scarves cannot really be worn all year round.
I am too scared of surgery. I am totally paranoid about shaving down the Adam's apple. And my Adam's apple is not exactly jutting out, but rather there's a depression around the Adam's apple. If I get it shaved down, it will look like it has been shaved down. That would be a dead give-away.
Currently, I am relying on makeup. I make my Adam's apple look a bit darker than the surrounding areas. This works if I look at myself in a frontal view. However, in a side profile view, my Adam's apple is still visible as a very tiny little bump when leaning forward or swallowing. Besides, because the skin around my neck moves during the day, the makeup does not stay long in the exact spot as I apply it.
I also avoid leaning forward. I sit up straight at work and stand straight. That's good for my posture too. However, there are times when I need to lean in or bend to pick up something, and on those occasions people can tell if they want to. Because we work on computers at my workplace, I sometimes need to lean to see what is on a screen. I noticed once a guy was waiting for me to lean and then look at me carefully to see if I had an Adam's apple. I guess he was trying to prove to himself and perhaps to others that I am trans.
I have also been avoiding exercise because doing more exercise makes me lose more fat around my neck and makes my Adam's apple more prominent. However, I cannot continue to avoid doing exercise for long.
Do you know about any exercises or methods to hide the Adam's apple? Are there exercises to build muscle around the Adam's apple? Also, do you know if there is some kind of surgery that will add fat or some silicone insert around the Adam's apple instead of shaving it down?
