Hello all. Quick question regarding electrolysis. I know that when you do laser you can't tan. I'm almost done with laser and I'm pretty pasty white. I was just wondering if you can tan during your electrolysis? And how long do you have to let the hair grow out?

For electrolysis I don't shave for two days - the day before and the day of the treatment.  My laser tech warned me against getting tan, but my electrolygist never mentioned it.  The main thing with electrolysis that I know about is to do what you can to make the skin soft and hydrated.  Drink lots of water and use lotions to keep the skin pliable.  (I think the electrolysis will still work if you don't do these things, but it will be more painful.)

If tanning is important to you, talk to your electrolygist.

Absolutly noTTTT!!!
Actually tanning itself will have no effect on conventional needle electrolysis. However you may wish to consider whether it is advisable to further stress and potentially damage skin which is already being subjected to the trauma of having its hair follicle fried.

In short unlike laser it isn't actually forbidden and contrary to what Suigeniris seems to imply it won't affect the effectiveness of the treatment, but unless you want to risk permanent skin damage it probably isn't the cleverest thing to do right now!

So even so my advice is also don't do it.

???Actually Rejen I never said it would affect the treatment itself ...  :icon_weirdface:what I said was NOT to tan....................(Absolutly noTTTT!!!) was my statement ............, I myself have never shaved and had a few light hairs that I wanted remove while I was having the down south area worked on and had skin damage due to the tanning,I was told if I really wanted to tan that I could as long as the lotion itself had a 70% uv protection  and not oil based .... yet I still had pigment damage ...... so on the contrary to what Rejen states Drippin I never said that
..In short NO DON"T TAN lol lol
