I was a little nervous at first but no one really cares. Just be confident and don't act like you are hiding some secret and if someone asks you why you shave your legs just tell them "I like it that way" and leave it at that. It's no big deal really. I work in a redneck Texas environment and have NEVER had anyone ask me about me shaving my arms. My boss and another sales guy also shave theirs so it's no big deal.

As far as my wife goes, she likes the hairless look and feel as long as I dont have stubble when I snuggle up to her. Just be confident in your decision and dont make a big deal out of it if someone asks. If you stutter and act like a deer in the headlights when someone asks, it will draw more questions. Confidence is the key!!!

I am still working on my arms...

I hope that with E they will get better. I have soft hair in the arms, and I think that shaving them might not be the best option, as I don't always have the time to shave before going out (I am not full time), so it might be actually lest softer if I shave, than as it is now.

I am thinking about laser... but that will take some time... and money!

I use an epilator which is just a mechanical version of waxing. It hurts quite a bit the first time but after the hairs are ripped out, the new ones coming in come out pretty painlessly if you epilate regularly. I got a wet/dry one that has two heads on it an it works pretty good. Only paid about $50 for it from Fry's Electronics. Tons of them on ebay. My whole body stays silky smooth since the new hairs that grow out are finer since they are new hairs and not stubble.
