My six month T anniversery today!

I've been on Testosterone for six months today.  Above are face pictures taken in April 2010 and today November 2010.

Looking at them I can see I now have a more pointed jaw, a hint of Adam's apple, bushier eyebrows, a more male hairline, the start of facial hair, acne, a better nose? and I am happier now.  :D  I expect even more changes in the months to come. 

Body changes:

May 2010 Weight - 158, Body Fat - 33%, Hips - 42 inches, Waist - 32 inches, Chest - 38 inches

November 2010 Weight - 146, Body Fat - 23%, Hips - 36 inches, Waist - 28.5 inches, Chest - 32 inches

Wow, congrats man, you look great!  Your jaw is a *lot* sharper, and your neck definitely has an adam's apple.  You look a lot like my brother when he actually wore his glasses. 

If you don't mind me asking, was the weight loss due mostly to the T, or have you been working out a lot and changing your diet in conjunction with the T?

Keiran - Thank you!  The weight loss was a combination of T and sticking to a very strict exercise routine.  I do cardio 3x a week and body sculpting / weight lifting 3X a week as well.  Ideally.  Sometimes I miss a day or two. 

I am a lot stronger than I use to be.  Before I couldn't even do a single male style push-up and now I can do 30 in a row.  I have also been doing my best to stick to a high protein diet as much as possible.  I just go for the meat or milk if there are two choices.   I also use protein shakes and load up on the amino acids like L-Arginine

Gotcha, that's some dedication!  I'm pretty strong/ fairly muscular already from home exercise already, but I plan on getting a gym membership soon, just in time to incur some astronomical 'new years resolution' rates, haha.

I've been curious if in some cases T helps you to lose weight you carry in girly places like hips thighs, ect.  I've heard that women have a much higher body fat percentage than men, so I'm thinking the last 10 pounds I've got on my thighs and hips that don't budge (in either direction) no matter how much I eat or exercise might finally shed with cardio once I'm sans ovaries and on testosterone in a few months.

Keiran - Yes T certainly does help build muscle mass.  It's a steroid after all.  I have even seen pictures of guys growing biceps muscles without ever seeing the inside of a gym.  The thing is though in order to lose body fat you are going to have to work out.  Men do tend to have a lower body fat percentage it true.  However from what I can gather about transmen is that the girly fat on the hip tends to migrate up to the waist.  So it's more of a redistributing then a fat dissolving kind of thing.  I would recommend that you start focusing more on weight lifting then cardio.  Building and sculpting your muscles is the best way to burn fat while getting the lean figure you might want.

T is not a weight loss drug and shouldn't be viewed as such.  I've known guys that have gained a lot of unwanted weight while on it.  It's all individualized and ruled by genetics.  This is all just what I've gathered from my own experience.  Best of luck.  It's really is worth it

Haha, oh I wasn't planning on using it as a weight loss drug, far from it, I can't wait to be able to start a rigorous work-out plan, and trust me I know that to lose weight there's no alternative to exercise, I lost 110 pounds in a year with running and P90X.  My problem is more that my body seems to be programmed to not be able to lose the last of it, because I'm quite small already, my waist is 27" and my hips are 35".  I wear a size 28 in jeans.  All the women in my family are slightly curvy even if they're small and the men are extremely thin (my brother is 5'10" and 140lbs).  Since I've got an over-abundance of estrogen in my system thanks to a messed up reproductive system and the female HRT to attempt to correct it, I'm thinking I might have more success getting the fat off once on T, because I've mostly hit a wall.

I totally agree on building muscle being the best way to lose fat without a doubt, my legs are ridiculously muscular already just from running, and I can already do military-style pus-ups in sets of 25+ thanks to P90X, but annoyingly until I've gotten a hysterectomy and recovered, I'm now on exercise restriction.  I'm not supposed to run or do core exercises or much weight lifting because one of my ovaries keeps twisting and that seemed to be the cause twice.  I'm pretty much stuck with push-ups, hand weights, and the elliptical. 

Thanks for the info though, it's much appreciated.  You should totally do work-out progress pics if you have them at some point, if there isn't a thread for that I missed somewhere.   It's awesome to see how quickly guys get muscular once on T with hard work, and based on your measurement changes, you've got to be looking really different!

Amazing pictures and measurements.  I hope I can lose 6" on my hips!  It just goes to show that T has it's best effects when someone is also into fitness.  By being fit and healthy you minimise the chance of stuff like heart disease too.  So it's always worth your time

Yes I really do advocate working out as hard as you can as often as you can.  You get the best results when you exhaust the muscle group each time.  I do a lot of work on my shoulders and I use the heaviest weight I can manage to do at least 12 reps with.  I do 3 sets so each exercise and when I can do 3 sets of 15 reps then I move on to the next highest weight. 

Right now I am using the pull up assist machine for pull ups and dips.  After that I do a dead lift and overhead press combo with a weight bar.  Then I throw in some push ups.  To mix it up I add some weighed lunges with the bar across my shoulders to work my lower body.  That is all done in a circuit. 

After that I do weighed sit ups at an 90 degree angle.  Then I don't know what it's called but I put a barbell weight between my feet and while sitting at the end of bench I lean back slightly and bring my knees to my chest.  That works the lower abs wonderfully.
