So...I know I'm new around here but I've got a question.

I'm certain I'm not the first girl to sit waiting to begin her transition, fixated on the calendar and while waiting to have a bit of panic in regards to the time she is losing.  There is such a wealth of successful, fulfilled and transitioned ladies in this online community from what I have seen.  I'm curious as to how some of you mitigated these feelings and anxiety?

      Thank you for reading,

I'm sure there will be loads of girls here with a load of really intersting answers to this.

I'm looking forward to reading them.

Alright, so I'm not a girl but I've been waiting around 4 years to start T, get surgery, and all that. Testosterone is finally in reach but in the time before that I stared at the calendar going nuts with the time that I knew I was loosing. My suggestions

Start small, buy make-up, clothes, and such. Make a huge deal out of it too because it can be fun. Going out to get boxers is an awesome time for me (maybe I'm just weird) but it's a cheap way for me to feel manly so maybe the opposite will work for you.

Go window shopping if you can't afford to shop, get your nails done. If your holding off on transition and staying male for appearances sake, you could go get a manicure but get a clear coat of polish.

For me it was all about doing all of the little things I could to draw focus away from waiting on the big things. Hope it helps :)

I lived part time for nine months, waiting on the time that I would be able to go full time.  I learned early on that one needs to do something, no matter how small, towards transition.  I used the time to learn how to use make up.

Oh and dump the calender if you can.  hehe

I'll echo what Janet said, every step, no matter how small is a step forward, and over time all the little steps add up and you'll find that time is just flying forward. Well i did at least.

This.  I never quite understood retail therapy before, but I do now!  I also dance a heck of a lot because it's hard to worry about anything after four hours of salsa.
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love

I'm not allowed to endorse my methods on this forum.
but basically after having encountered a GP uninterested in me when I was 20 I waited and saved up money... I saved up money and cheated walking my own path. I've been seeing GP's but the gears are so slow I would be dead if I played by the rules.

Reckless yes but the situation was it was, you gotta do what you can in a bad situation.

Thank you for all of your ideas and responses!  Currently, I try to do something every day to maintain my sanity!  I keep myself shaven; I keep my nails just as long well shaped as I can get away with.  However, with the regulations nail polish of any kind is not authorized for thoughts of us with male bodies in the uniformed services *rolls her eyes  ::) at AR 670-1*.  In terms of physical activity I run!! I love to run.  I used to be a great sprinter but a few injuries later and I've turned to distance running, which I find far more calming regardless.

As for throwing out the Calendar I'm not sure I could, knowing I have some sort of a plan to escape this prison is what helps me keep putting one foot in front of the other.  I have a hard time just accepting hope as a method.  Please continue bringing ideas, anything helps!

Violet.

Like you, I'm a planner. I like to have some sort of timetable to work to, if only to keep objectives within sight and have a measure of progress.

Take care.
