Jeez! So, I posted a bit ago about my stupid doctor horrors, but if you haven't read, I'll just go ahead and explain again.

I got my letter from my therapist after telling my parents that it's either I start T or I move out, and she sends me to this Dr.Wolcott (Don't go to him if you're in VA near Norfolk. Go to Dr. Saundra Winstead, with Access Aids Care.) who first time won't see me because his receptionist is a ->-bleeped-<-face and didn't send me this packet I needed to fill out in the mail.

So I fill it out and give it back a week later, and then see him again in another week. Well, when I see him again, he says that my therapist isn't reputable because she's just a social worker (Even though she is the leading gender therapist in eastern Virginia and she has seen thousands of patients and had them all go through HRT and SRS. So I know right away that this guy is a dumbass and doesn't know anything about anything)

So he wanted me to get a psychiatric evaluation with this psychiatrist that is only just now getting into transsexual stuff. I told him that I didn't think that was necessary, and when he persisted I told him thank you for your time and left. My mom was really mad about it at first (she went with me) because she really liked this doctor, he trained the woman that delivered me and he has a PHD, but that really doesn't say anything about his knowledge of the Standards of Care or the history of the trans therapists in the area.

When we get home she tells me how she'll talk to my general practitioner about getting the bloodwork done in advance because she wants to get some other stuff done, like a hep C check and to see what my vitamin levels are at. She's going to pay for the extra tests and I'm paying for the hormone level check.

So my therapist is having her shoulder replaced (she says she's gonna be a cyborg soon c: She's had both shoulders, a knee, and her hip replaced. And maybe a vertebra or two) so I can't see her again until January, so I was really worried that she was going to be on leave before I could get in contact with her to send it. It took her a few days to reply, but she finally did x.x

Now I'm gonna see this other person, Dr. Winstead, and all I have to do for them is see their counselor and their physician that work at the Access AIDS Care clinic they run. And then I'll have T! Yaaaay. I hope. Gosh, I hope. This all has sucked so much.

/rant. Moral of the story, people are dumb and don't go to Dr. Wolcott.

Glad to hear things are turning around for you Morgan :) That other doc really does sound like an idiot.

Gee, half of the guys I know got hormones through an LCSW referral or informed consent. I think your ex-doctor should read the SoC.

Yeah, he's kind of an idiot. That packet I mentioned was apparently from this other doctor who used to run some gender program. Wolcott decided to keep using it after this guy stopped treating transsexuals, I guess because he's a stubborn old man. It asked really invasive questions, like in depth stuff about my sexual history and my job history, and my childhood... Stuff only my therapist needs to know. I was fuming mad the first time I read it.

And I forgot to mention that he didn't even know my letter was sent to him. He didn't have it in my folder. So his receptionist was dumb again. Before I asked him if my letter was not enough, he said 'this isn't burger king. you can't come in here and demand hormones'. I wanted to punch him.

You might want to go out of your way to give him bad reviews at some of those medical info sites...

Arch is right... No doctor should ever get away with saying that.

The next time I see my therapist I'm going to let her know all of what happened.. She rarely refers people to him, but I think this will make her stop completely. I heard a woman talking about him behind me the first time I went, she was really mad, saying that he was really insensitive and had no personality XD So it's not just me that hates him! Even his gyno patients don't like him!

I'll poke around google to see if he's listed on any LGBT sites as a trans friendly doctor. Found one so far, which doesn't list the next doc I'm going to.. I'll give them an email telling them about mine, and about how Dr.Wolcott is a jerk. But yeah, I'm gonna inform other people about him.
