Hi,

Does anyone know of a trans group here in the Westside of Los Angeles?   I researched the topic a bit and I know of two groups, one is the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center in Hollywood, which might as well be at the moon or central Alaska as far away as that is.  When I was there in 2006, it was not the most transsexual group by any definition of the term.  Even if it was, Hollyweed is far.

The other place, equally turning off, is run by the Gender Wellness Center or something like that.  The group, a for profit meeting hosted by a psychiatrist, charges a fortune to meet for a session.  I am not much into the bar scene.  I am the opposite personality, so that is out.  I think the valley has some transgender friendly bars.  Other than that, it seems that L.A. might be LGB friendly, but definitely not T friendly.

The problem with Los Angeles is that it is way too big and crowded.  To borrow a person that I like:

L.A.'s fine, the sun shines almost all the time
And the feeling is so totally not 'lay back'
Palm trees grow (why?), and rents are sky high
But you know I keep thinkin' about
Making my way back to those crowded freeways.

Well I'm not New York City born and raised
But nowadays, I'm lost between two shores, male and female if you get my drift
L.A.'s fine, and it is home,
New York's not home in any way, and it never was mine (especially Brooklyn),

Thanks in advance :-)

Most people think that pretty much all of LA and SF are gay/lesbian/trans support centers.  Hell, LA is so trans it hurts.  No one goes by their given name, everyone is dressing up all the time, the only difference is everyone has a script or a treatment for you to read.

But LA is also a place where there is 'no there there' so there is no central area like the Bay Area has, or NYC.  Still for the people in the burbs here and there, all that bridge and tunnel stuff is prohibitive.

FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...
