Since I have ended up pointing so many to this one I thought that I would finally add it here.

The therapist that I see every so often runs a support group meeting about once a month.  There is usually a subject or two and sometimes a speaker or two.  Topics are all over the place and the usual mutation usually occurs.

If you email her office, you will often end up on the mailing list which is just for announcements concerning the meeting.

The middle session listed under Support Groups and Worskshops is, at this time, $25 and includes lunch which is usually a few different pizzas from a delivery service.

If you do not email, call in advance just to make sure there has not been a schedule change.  The location is close to the NCSU campus and not too terribly far from Cameron Village so there are plenty of places to check out before and after the meeting.

There will be a support meeting this month, but on Sunday the 19th.  Location to be announced due to the special nature of the support meeting:  Professional Makeup Artist.  :)

Unfortunately I will be out of the state at the time.  I swear people wait until the plane tickets are purchased and then make plans since I will be gone.   :P

Anyway, contact her via the contact info on the webpage (posted above) to get in on this awesome opportunity.  This will be both for Transwomen and young adults.

There is a support group meeting this month, on the 13th.

QuoteIt's that time again!  Please come and join us for the May Transwomen Support Group Meeting, Saturday, May 13, 2006 at my office from 1:00 – 2:30 P.M.

Visit the webpage in the initial post for contact info.  If you cannot access the page, PM me and I will try to get the info to you before the 13th.

Updating this old topic in case anyone is looking in the area: the above group still exists but it now meets on Friday evenings (I think it's generally the first Friday of the month) in Fuquay-Varina, NC, which is a bit of a drive south of Raleigh.

I have attended a session of this one once. My experience was not great and is why I have never gone back.

Also, Durham Gender Alliance (DGA) has support group meetings near Duke University's campus on Saturday evenings (last Saturday of the month, I believe.) I've never been to this group due to various schedule conflicts.
