So the person who is going to be prescribing my hormones is part of a clinic with the word Woman in the title. It's a gyno so I'll be the only male in the waiting room. Anyone have to deal with this? Seems like it'll be a little awkward. I'll work through it to get the hormones and blood checked but this seems like it'll be awkward. Any tips, suggestions?

Lots of gyno's prescribe hormones ...they tend to know the women's body the best and how to make the correction.  The doctor I am going to for hormones is a gyno.   She has one day set aside for transgender clients.  She sees both ftm's & mtf's.   If your doctor doesn't have a day set aside or time ...I would schedule a first in the morning appointment when there is less people waiting.

My endo is the main guy at the gynocological part of the Rvk. hospital.
My current prescriber is a gyno at the local hospital.
I just ignore "Other people" and haven't had any trouble.

Thanks for the advice guys. No day set aside. I guess the upside to that is more appointments available for less wait.

Miniar: sounds like a good idea maybe I'll just walk in with a book and ignore everyone until my name is called

Rob: I was lucky enough to get the earliest appointment this time around. I have to get a consult then get my hormones so hopefully for my hormone appointment I can get it in the morning as well.

I would ask them on the phone before you go for a private wating room.

Mr. Rainey, it's a good idea but sadly they don't have one :( A lot of the guys I know who originally went there are trying to find someone else because of that. I just realized though that I'll be doing self-injections so I really will only have to go for the original appointment then to get the hormones and once every 2-6 months after that to talk about my bloodwork which I have to get done somewhere else.

Weird, well unless they will let you wait in the appt room then mabey you can just listen to you mp3 player and act bored. Other ppl will assume your waiting for a girl.

That's true, for all they know I'm waiting on someone or picking up papers for someone. I guess the more I think about it the less nervous I get because as my mom pointed out, unless the girls know about transgender people and put two and two together then they might get a confused look for thirty seconds when my name is called but they probably won't put much thought into it.

i just made an appointment with a gyn at a women's clinic to get hormones. I know he's worked with ftms before, but I'm a little worried about it too. It's probably no big deal though, people might look at you for a few seconds and then they will move on with their day, more than likely you will never see them again.

You can't just take a female with you? Then it'd look like you're there with them

All my female friends are busy on the appointment day sadly but that is a really good idea.
